Here is another DIY Travel Guide to Cagayan Valley featuring the Callao Cave, Palaui Island, Anguib Beach and many more.
You will definitely enjoy this paradise in Region II in the Northern part of the Philippines. Perfect place if you want to have solitude and serene environment. The place is easily accessible from local flights from Manila to Tuguegarao via Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines.

Here’s the affordable accommodation in Cagayan Valley in Agoda.
DAY 1: Manila – Tuguegarao – Sta. Ana, Cagayan
Opted an hour plane ride instead of the normal 12 hour bus ride, arrived at Tuguegarao Airport at 1 PM directly headed to UV Van terminal for my next destination 3-4hrs – Sta. Ana Cagayan.
Welcomed by the Bangkero family at late afternoon and directly checked the parola for the beautiful Sunset, enjoyed the sumptuous dinner prepared by the family who adopted me for the night.
DAY 2: Palaui Island
Woke up early and prepared for the whole day of island hopping, fishing, hiking and swimming in Palaui. Decided to start with Anguib Beach and since it was Monday, I totally enjoyed the 2hr swim with solitude, not to mention the crystal clear and white sand…I must say my kind of relaxation.
Next spot was Cape Engano, the hike was just the preparation of the beauty you will be owning. It was jut me and myself on top, so I wasted no time and setup my camera and phone and took wonderful pictures of almost everything.
Kuya bangkeros decided to go on fishing for our lunch, not much luck though after more than an hour we stopped at Siwangag Cove.
After our meal with fresh catch, decided for siesta time at Punta Verde and followed by the beautiful Crododile Island as out last stop.
DAY 3: Tugegarao — Callao Cave
Took the 5am UV Van schedule going back to Tugegarao. Arrived after 4 hrs and checked in early at Pension Joselina to freshen up. Made sure my information going to Callao cave was complete, I missed no time and hopped in to the next tricycle going to Penablanca. After an hour of bumpy, dusty ride I found myself sitting next to the elementary pupils eager to visit the cave too.
I always admire Callao Cave since elementary from books, postcards, blogs and write-ups – the natural beauty of the chambers was just remarkably amazing.
Last stop for the day was the Calvary Hills and Cathedral of Tuguegarao.
DAY 4: Tugegarao – Manila
Early to bed, early to wake was my motto because I don’t want to miss visiting Our Lady of Piat. Arrived there around 7AM after an almost jeepney ride from National Highway to start my journey back to Manila.
