It was founded in 1945 by a couple, Bruno and Jeanne, who put down their lives and livelihood to save the bar and jazz from destruction after World War II.
As it was on one of the main crossroads in Paris, it became the last safe place in the city when it was in ruins. The restaurant and bar still follow the same philosophy of caring for the city, as it offers discounts for locals, especially the elderly and those with disabilities.
