Why is it one of the best hostels in China?

FAMOUS FOR: Perfect place to stay when coming out of busy Beijing. A perfect escape of the congested and bustling air of downtown. This establishment is hidden away inside the Gubeikou Village, beautifully decorated by a Buddhist owner with a great taste of art. The rooms are clean, the bathrooms are amazing (heated toilet seats). The owner, Joe, is very kind and helpful. He speaks both Chinese and English and he will help you with every part of your stay – from the trip from Beijing to your hike on the Great Wall! This is a truly amazing little place to stay. Definitely one of the best hostels in Beijing, China.

Why is it one of the best hostels in China?

FAMOUS FOR: The setting is great, it is right in the middle of a very safe Hutong and very close to the metro, and walkable distance to many attractions. It has rooms set around a very cute courtyard and has such a nice feeling about the place. The rooms are simple but very nicely furnished and the hosts are constantly on hand if you needed anything. All rooms have individual lockers and the WiFi connection is very good too. The staff is very friendly, helping with all kinds of questions. The tea ceremonies and the free Friday dumpling night is a great way to connect with other guests. Great atmosphere and location, truly one of the best hostels in Beijing, China.

Why is it one of the best hostels in China?

FAMOUS FOR: The hostel is very easy to find given the directions from the train station. There are two near (10-15 minute walk) train stations from the hostel so the location is very good. The staff speaks English very well plus they are friendly and helpful. The rooms are cozy, the bed is comfortable and the showers are nice. There’s a bar/cafe downstairs which offers food and is reasonably priced. The coffee is excellent – and pretty cheap. There are computers in reception too and decent inexpensive washing and drying facilities in the hostel. The communal area is nicely done with a pool table and outdoor seating. Highly recommended, definitely one of the best hostels in Shanghai, China.

FAMOUS FOR: Red bricks and wooden floors, a hostel with a superb and quiet terrace, and a lot of nice travelers. Location is super convenient (metro station very close, line 4 to Hongqiao Airport and metro 7), many food shops and boutiques nearby and in the heart of the French Concession. The hostel is located in the middle of the French Quarter, three or four blocks south of the Jing’An Temple which is a fun site in itself. Close to the subways, it serves as a surprisingly affordable hostel located not too far outside the city center. The rooms are quite small but very clean and with a wooden floor. The public area is spacious. Great location, good quality/price, truly one of the best hostels in Shanghai, China.

FAMOUS FOR: Very very nice hostel, almost like a chic hotel. The outside spaces are spot on with great views and comfortable seating areas. Food has a good price due to its generous sizes. The double room is a great size and very comfortable with a desk, kettle, etc. The rooms are modern, pleasant, and clean. Good location, close to the metro and local street food stalls. Malls and sights are all within walking distance. Hostel with a superb common area and restaurant on the top floor offering excellent Western and Chinese food. FAMOUS FOR: Top-notch location. Close to metro station, close to the city center and many food places. Also, it’s a 20 min walk from Jinli. The hostel has a lively vibe in the common area – pool table, bar, tables to sit and eat, pillows and soft eats on the ground to chill and read, books all around and events on Fridays, very fantastic! The staff is generally pleasant, especially the cleaning staff, who are always extremely cheerful and ready for a chat. The room has modern decor, clean linen, a heater, an electric blanket, a decent shower, and comfy beds – really quiet at night. FAMOUS FOR: This is definitely a backpacker hostel that is a low cost, with a decent menu, great bar, and friendly staff. The staff is wonderful, always smiling and offering plenty of knowledgeable advice about the area and things to do. The room is more hotel standard than any hostel – spotlessly clean, spacious, and modern with a comfortable bed and safe for your valuables. Laundry is free which is a big plus for backpackers! Large outdoor common area/BBQ area as well as an indoor space split into areas for dining, reading, relaxing somewhere quiet and also large comfortable sofas and a pool table – best common room! The menu at Wada is really impressive too – plenty of healthy food choices, freshly made and great value for such huge portions. Great value, truly one of the best hostels in Guilin, China.

The beds are very comfortable as they have different firmness of beds depending on whether you like your bed soft or hard. The common area is fully equipped with a pool table, Foosball table, Nintendo Wii, popping music, and a huge flat-screen TV. The staff is very helpful – this place is exactly what you’d look for in a hostel. Not a bad choice if you are staying for a bit longer and need reliable and fast internet. Several express courier services in the block (domestic) and lots of food/breakfast places, easily accessible within walking distance. FAMOUS FOR: Fun Sam’s is a bit of a rarity for China as it is a true family-run bed and breakfast. Rooms are great, clean, and with very comfortable beds. Rooms provide a great view of the karst scenery. Sam is awesome at helping you navigate the city, booking tickets to rafting tours, showing great countryside bike routes, etc. It is the best place to stay in Yangshuo if you’re looking for a cozy stay, finding friends, and having a great host. It’s seriously a hidden gem in this backpacker town chock full of accommodations. An authentic experience, without ever having to leave your comfort zone, definitely one of the best hostels in Yangshuo, China.

FAMOUS FOR: A superb budget place in Yangshuo town, close to the North bus stand (buses go to Guilin from here). You actually stay in Mr. Wei’s house. The price of your stay includes all meals – make sure you’re there for dinner as the food is amazing. Nice place, outstanding owners – speak good English, very helpful with other travel arrangements. The place is super clean. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and also cheap.  The dorm is really big, the beds are huge and clean, as the whole hostel is. Great place and management, truly one of the best hostels in Yangshuo, China.

FAMOUS FOR: Hostel with a great location, on the highway, so easily accessible from the airport and train station. Rooms are excellent, with clean bathrooms, WiFi works all the time and the food is awesome. The roof terrace is also a great place to enjoy a cheap beer after days of sightseeing/bike riding. The staff is English speaking and very very kind and helpful. If you are going to Tiger Leaping Gorge, the owner can easily help you arrange your trip and provide good advice! Why is it one of the best hostels in China?

FAMOUS FOR: The house owner, Tom, is very warmhearted and helpful to show hospitality to travelers. He is also happy to provide all available travel information upon arrival and the best local cuisine in town. The hostel has a real communal feel, everyone usually eats dinner together, deliciously cooked by Tom. The rooms are clean, the beds are really comfortable, and have heated blankets which is a plus in winter given how cold it gets in Lijiang. The hostel is located close to Old Town which is also cool. Showers and toilets are perfectly clean. Home away from home, truly one of the best hostels in Lijiang, China.
