How to Cancel Hostel Bookings on Hostelworld (Refundable and Non-Refundable)

Due to travel restrictions and community quarantines, many of us have canceled our travel plans. If ever you have booked through Hostelworld, you can cancel your Hotel Booking on Hostelworld. We will show you how to do it.

The usual cancelation policy is for you not have a refund for non-refundable or non-flexible bookings. But Hostelworld can compensate you for bookings up to May 31, 2020. Cancelable Bookings

This is for bookings with free cancellation. Do this 24 hours before your check-in date.

STEP 1: Go to the HostelWorld website.

STEP 2: Sign in using your account.

How to Cancel Hotel Booking on Hostelworld

STEP 3: Go to your Bookings (found under your name.)

STEP 4: Select the hostel you want to cancel under future bookings.

STEP 5: Choose cancel booking.  And click “Yes” for confirmation.

STEP 6: Booking is now canceled. Refunding will be at least 6 weeks.  You can also choose the option to have credits that can be used within 18 months.

Should you have a check-in within 24 hours, you need to contact the hostel immediately.

Standard, Non-Refundable Bookings, or Non-Flexible Bookings

For bookings up to May 31, 2020:

STEP 1: Prepare your booking details.

STEP 2: Go to this part of the Hostelworld Website.

How to Cancel Hotel Booking on Hostelworld

STEP 3: Enter the details asked, especially your booking reference number and the reason for your cancellation.

STEP 4: You will receive a response in about 3 days.

STEP 5: The refund will be credited to your Hostelworld account. You may use this for your future bookings within 18 months.

Normal Cancellation Policy

For bookings after May 31, 2020:

Cancellable Bookings                                 

  • The refund will be processed automatically after you have clicked “Cancel Booking.”

Flexible Bookings

  • The deposit will be credited to your Hostelworld account. This may be used for your future bookings.

Non-Flexible Bookings

  • You can cancel it.

Non-Cancellable Bookings

  • After canceling, you need to pay for the full amount of your booking.

Changing your Booking

This is for bookings with free cancellation. Do this 24 hours before your check-in date.

STEP 1: Go to the HostelWorld website.

STEP 2: Sign in using your account.

STEP 3: Go to your Bookings (found under your name.)

STEP 4: Select the hostel you want to change bookings.

STEP 5: Choose change booking.

STEP 6: Change the dates or room type on your booking. There may be additional fees.

STEP 7: Confirm the changes and Pay for additional charges.

STEP 8: A new booking reference number will be sent to you once it is confirmed.
