Tenerife has two parts, the North and the South. Each of them has different characteristics. From their weather to restaurants, traditions, and culture. However, both are extremely wonderful and worth to visit. In this article, we will be focusing on South Tenerife, Spain. It offers a lot of fun and exciting activities. South Tenerife Airport is also the second busiest airport (next to Gran Canaria) in the Canary Islands. 

10 things that you should do in South Tenerife, Spain

1. Siam Park

Siam Park is considered the best waterpark in the world. It’s open all year round, even in winter, since Tenerife has a subtropical climate, which makes this island one of the warmest during winter. In this park, there are a lot of slides, a lazy river, and a big wave pool. It’s really a perfect getaway with your family or friends!

2. Aqualand

Aqualand is located in Costa Adeje. It’s not as busy as Siam Park but you’d still definitely enjoy your stay here. Aside from pools, they also have dolphin shows which can really entertain you.

3. Jungle Park

Jungle Park is the largest zoo in South Tenerife and also considered a beautiful park. It’s set out like a natural jungle. You’d see a lot of different animals while enjoying your walk through this stunning park. Kids and adults would both love Jungle Zoo.

4. Monkey Park

Monkey Park is not as large as the Jungle Park. However, this still a must-visit when you’re in Tenerife, especially if you’re traveling with your family. In this park, you’ll see animals in their natural habitat, without any shows! Some animals that are here are also endangered, and monkey park has a deep respect for these animals. 

5. Los Cristianos

Los Cristianos is a town in South Tenerife. It has two main beaches, the Las Vistas and Los Cristianos beach. They both offer calm and clean water. There are also a lot of activities you can do there aside from swimming, one of them is boat riding.

6. The Market in Los Cristianos

This market is the largest market in South Tenerife. It is a good place for you to go shopping or to buy souvenirs. Since it is a typical large market, expect that it’ll be crowded, so you should really watch your valuable things when you go here. 

7. The Light and Music Fountain (Playa de las Americas)

It’s a lovely sight to see at night. It attracts a lot of viewers. It’s a very short show (lasts about 15 minutes) that could entertain you and your family or friends. 

8. Montana Chayofita

Montana Chayofita is a small mountain perfect for a short climb. If you like a little adventure, then this attraction is recommended. It won’t take you long to climb this mountain, probably about 15 minutes of the climb only, however, the view is stunning that you won’t get disappointed when you reach the top. The perfect time to climb this is in the afternoon before the sunset. 

9. Explore the beaches in South Tenerife

South Tenerife surely has a lot of beautiful beaches that you could explore. Some of which are Playa Las Vistas, Playa El Camison, Torviscas beach, Playa del Duque and a lot more! Make sure to bring your best beach outfit when you visit South Tenerife. 

10. Barranco del Infierno

Barranco del Infierno offers you a lovely hike to see Tenerife’s highest waterfall. To preserve the environment, only 300 people are allowed to enter per day. Because of this, you have to book online in advance in order for you to have access to this wonderful attraction.

Staying in South Tenerife for only 3 days is not a problem. You’d still be able to see a lot of attractions and you’d still enjoy your weekend getaway in this wonderful place. Here is the recommended itinerary if you’re planning to visit South Tenerife.

DAY 1

Monkey ParkOn your first day, it is recommended to visit Monkey Park. Explore and learn more about different animals in this park. However, don’t expect an animal show as they do not have that here. You will see animals in their natural habitat, which I think is better. Enjoy! 

Playa de Los CristianosAfter a day in the park, it feels good to relax at the beach. Head to Los Cristianos if you want a relaxing beach getaway. Not only you can swim here. But you could also choose other activities. What more could you ask for?

DAY 2

Barranco del InfiernoA must place to visit while you’re in South Tenerife. It is a wonderful hike that will take you to the highest waterfall in Tenerife. A great sight to see after a tiring hike. Also, please remember that you should book your ticket online as Barranco del Infierno limits their visitors to 300 people a day only, this is to preserve its environment. 

Montana ChayofitaIn the afternoon, don’t miss Montana Chayofita, a very small mountain in Tenerife. The hike will take you about 15 minutes only. And when you’re on top, the view is very stunning. Especially during sunset, that’s why this attraction is recommended to visit in the afternoon for you to see how lovely the sunset is. 

DAY3

The Market in Los CristianosOf course, before you leave South Tenerife, you should take some souvenirs with you! The Market in Los Cristianos is recommended as it is the largest market in Tenerife. It means there will be a lot to choose from. However, please expect that it will be crowded.
