The Mekong Delta welcomes Can Tho Ecolodge, an Eco-luxury Accommodation in South Vietnam
Can Tho, the unofficial capital of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, has been enjoying increasing popularity of late and has emerged as a new holiday destination for international globetrotters.
Situated in the beautiful green surrounds of Can Tho city, Can Tho Ecolodge is set to throw open its doors in July 2019. The lodge will be the perfect picture of the Mekong Delta’s wild, ancient heart and is poised to provide guests with an excellent stepping stone to the sprawling beauty of southern Vietnam.
The vast splendor of the Mekong Delta settles into 2.6 hectares of 4-star accommodation, with over 50% of space throughout the Ecolodge dedicated to the gorgeous greenery of the surrounding Mekong jungle. The natural architecture of the Ecolodge is built mostly from renewable materials like mangrove wood, coconut husks, and palm leaves, all by the hands of local craftspeople. This helps to create both harmony with nature and a strikingly luxurious feel that guests will adore.
The 12 thatched-roof cottages of Can Tho Ecolodge will contain 48 Deluxe rooms as well as an Eco-restaurant, massage centre, bar, and workshop. The two swimming pools and a narrow canal running through the centre will be shaded by tall coconut groves, while other vibrant tropics frame the light-flooded rooms and their adorable balconies.
Rooms
All 48 Deluxe rooms (56m2) of Can Tho Ecolodge offer guests the intoxicating aura of the Mekong Delta through local building materials and power from renewable sources. Luxury is built into high-quality and eco-friendly amenities like the stone vessel sinks and stunning bathtub made from the wood of the jackfruit tree.
The Mekong Delta has a long and fruitful history of delicious cuisine, stemming from the fertile soil and its snaking, fish-filled waterways. The chefs of Can Tho Ecolodge are born and raised in the delta and have lived with full exposure to the culinary treats on offer throughout its 12 provinces. They bring both their skill and their history to the gorgeous restaurant and have created a menu of the finest seafood and freshest rice, noodles, and vegetables. For our guests’ own touch of home, we also feature western dishes served alongside sweeping panoramas of the tropical playground at our doorstep.
Bathed in beautiful sunshine and shaded by towering palm trees, the two swimming pools of Can Tho Ecolodge are havens for relaxation and family fun. A poolside bar will offer a full menu of drinks and little reason for guests to leave their sun loungers.
What We Stand for
Once open, Can Tho Ecolodge will be a proud manifestation of the four key values of our company – Asia Ecolodge. Through a local approach to international tourism, our ecolodge fluidly marries the concepts of locality and luxury, resulting in accommodation that presents the best of Vietnam to our overseas and domestic visitors.
- Closeness to Nature
In both the literal and the spiritual sense, Can Tho Ecolodge presents the concept of nature to each one of our treasured guests. Along with a location nestled in the verdant southern Vietnamese countryside, the Ecolodge is constructed of natural materials from the immediate local area including mangrove wood, bamboo, stone, coconut, palm leaves, and red brick. About 55% of the lodge is devoted to soaring coconut trees and thick, leafy shrubs.
- Environmental Protection
Just 16% of the Ecolodge is utilized for building space in an effort to minimize our impact on Can Tho’s countryside. We also use solar power, biofuel, and a treatment plant to safely discharge wastewater into fields and rice paddies. Most of our construction materials are from renewable sources and many of our eco-activity tours help to support local farmers around the region.
- Cultural Preservation
Our employment of 90% local staff from underprivileged villages helps to showcase the distinctive culture of the Mekong Delta and champion the tranquil way of life developed over thousands of years on the banks of the Mekong River. In the restaurant, guests will find a full menu of local cuisine caught, grown or purchased from local farmers and fishermen, while our eco-activity tours open the window to the Mekong Delta’s modest and gorgeous traditions.
- Responsible Tourism
The local staff at Can Tho Ecolodge are rightfully proud of their heritage and homeland. Our responsible tourism initiative works to benefit both the local community and wilderness of the Mekong Delta through local employment and eco-tours. We heavily endorse the protection of the environment and ask all of our guests to do the same during their stay with us.
