What You Need to Know About the Reservation with DFDS Ferries

Your ability to cancel your reservation with DFDS Ferries depends on the type of fare you purchased. Please remember that DFDS operates as a ticketless company, so meaning they do not provide paper tickets. When you purchase a ferry crossing online, they will send you an email confirmation that contains your booking reference and travel details. You can print or write down your reference number. If you make a phone reservation, they will ask you to make a note of your booking reference number. On the day of your trip, you have to show your booking reference number at the DFDS Seaways check-in booth. 

How to Change or Cancel your Reservation with DFDS Ferries

Passengers can cancel their reservation or change some details via the DFDS website or by calling them over the phone.

Calais & Dunkirk – Dover
Changing fee: €15 per crossing
Canceling or Changing Reservation by phone: 02-32-14-68-50 (France); 02-514-17-74 (Belgium)

Dieppe – Newhaven
Changing fee: €12,50 per crossing
Canceling or Changing Reservation by phone: 0800-650-100 (France); 0800-917-12-01 (UK)

Amsterdam – Newcastle or Copenhagen – Oslo
Canceling or Changing Reservation by phone: 02-32-14-68-52

How to Cancel or Change Reservation with DFDS Ferries

If after modification your reservation has an amount lower than its original value, the difference is not refundable. Line changes, date, time, and the number of passengers or types of vehicles may result in a fare increase. This increase will be added to the amendment fee.

As for DFDS: “The rules of cancellations may vary depending on the category of the trip. Upon cancellation, you incur a fee (cancellation fee) of a magnitude related to the notice period you have given us. Any refunds to which you may be entitled to the cancellation of your reservation will be deducted from the cancellation fees.”

Changes You Can Do with Your Bookings

You can view and change your bookings online and 24/7. These are the details you can change:

  • Change passenger information
  • Change or upgrade your cabin
  • Change or add meals and seating times
  • Change/add vehicle, extra services

However, please remember that the elements you can change may vary from route to route.

Flexible Fares on DFDS Ferries

Flexible fares are only available on DFDS’ Dunkirk and Calais to Dover crossings, It offers an awesome price with great flexibility if you wish to change your plans. Here’s what you can do with your flexible fare if you decide to change something:

  • Departure on any crossing within 72 hours in either direction of the booked crossing, at no additional charge upon arrival at the port (this is subject to availability).
  • No administration fee applies, you will only pay the difference between the 2 rates if you wish to travel more than 72 hours after or before the booked departure.
  • The reservation is totally refundable if canceled 48 hours or more before departure (on written request to their Customer Service).

  1. We are unable to travel on Wednesday 20th July due to the fact that we have Covid in the family. Our booking reference is 20147319-1 can we use our ticket at a later date? We don’t want a refund but just want to able to use our ticket later before thhe end of the year. Please let us know as soon as possible what we have to do.
