Carrizalillo is one of the best beaches in Puerto Escondido and surfing is one of the best things to do here. To get there, however, you have to go down a staircase of more than 150 steps, but the beach is worth it, it is also very close to the main bay which is only around 15 minutes of walking.

4. Lagunas de Chacahua Parque Nacional

The lagoon of Chacahua is another gem hidden in Mexico. A natural paradise after a 40-minute journey by speedboat through mangroves, crocodiles, isolated villages, and full forest. Here, you can enjoy oysters from the freshly caught fish.

A long, wide beach and not very crowded. The ocean wave is a bit strong so it’s better to be cautious, the sunset just spectacular. And what makes it more interesting to go here? You can participate in the release of turtles which is a beautiful experience! However, there are only two bars and restaurants on this beach and it’s a bit pricey, but you can bring your own drinks and food. Also, it is advisable to bring a parasol because there aren’t many palm trees to hide from the sun.

Suggested Tour: Turtle Release and Bioluminescent Plankton

6. El Mercado

If you are going to buy mole, cheese, chocolate, or some craft, you will find everything here. El Mercado is a local market, not very big but typical of a small town. This is where you can connect with the locals and discover products that are not in your city. It is centrally located and has good fresh fruits and vegetables. A must place to visit!

7. Playa Coral

A beach located next to Playa Bacocho, in fact, you can walk from one to the other. It is super quiet and there are hardly any people. If you want to go here, it’s recommended to bring a companion since it can get lonely. But if you want some peace of mind and alone time at the beach, this is the ideal place.
