Here’s a list of the restaurants I visited on my first trip to Houston, Texas. They range from American to African to Asian cuisine!

Food in the state is not so cheap, so it’s quite challenging to look for a restaurant to dine in. In my case, I wanted to try a lot of fantastic food in Texas since it’s my first time visiting Houston. Just a few clicks on the web gave me a lot of options to choose from. So below, I will share with you the best 14 restaurants I’ve visited in Houston.

1. Joey Uptown

Joey Uptown is a must-visit in Houston, especially if you want to try different dishes in one place. The wide variety of their menu is impressive – they have small plus sharing, sushi (for some Asian cravings), salads, sandwiches, steakhouse, seafood, and desserts!

2. 1751 Seafood Restaurant

From the name itself, 1751 Seafood Restaurant is a go-to place for some fresh and delicious seafood. They have varieties of oysters, caviar, tuna, and more! Their drinks are also a must-try. You can either have a traditional dining or a multi-course experience. Whatever it is, you’ll have a good time!

3. The PitRoom

The Pit Room is a BBQ restaurant that also serves tacos, desserts, beer & wine. Its peppery flavor and a good amount of smoke were already enough to make me drool. Other than their meat, I also tried their made in-house sausages, and it is a must-try! The Pit Room is definitely worth your time!

4. Sticky’s Chicken

Sticky's Chicken How A Sticky Sauce Wings Became Houston's Favorite

Sticky’s Chicken offers different flavors of wings for your chicken cravings. Their signature wings OG Sticky’s wings are so good! It’s a must-try as it has the signature sticky sauce which inspired the name of their restaurant. I also had OG Sliders and fries that completed my meal.

5. Dozier’s BBQ

Dozier's Satisfy Your Meat and BBQ Cravings While in Texas

Dozier’s BBQ is the holy grail of bbq meat in Houston. Everything was so good in Dozier’s! The brisket, the ribs, the side dishes, everything! The fall-off-the-bone meat melts in my mouth, which is oddly satisfying and mouthwatering. Their brisket also has a wide range of options like brisket on a biscuit, brisket hash, Chicken fried brisket, and more!

6. Space Cowboy

Space Cowboy’s menu ranges from the Philippines to Fiji. They have Asian, Latino, and Hawaiian-inspired tastes, so you can really have it all! The place also has a chic vibe that can lighten the mood while you’re eating. Surely a must-visit!

7. Tacos A Go Go

I was enjoying my trip to Houston when I suddenly craved some tacos. Well, staying in Texas is incomplete without having tacos any time of the day. Then I discovered Tacos A Gogo. It’s been operating for 15 years and has different branches in different areas in Texas. I had the best tacos and got a little bit tipsy with their Margarita and Paloma, but it was worth it!

8. Mozambik Kitchen

Mozambik South African Kitchen has an incredible food selection like seafood, meat, desserts, and of course, South African cuisine. In fact, I couldn’t finish everything as it was a lot, so I had to bring some of it home.

A restaurant that uses the authentic Fogo de Chao process of cooking Brazilian meat. This ensures the delicious quality of meat that you will eat. They have a wide variety of menus such as Filet Mignon, Beef Ancho, Lombo, Costela, Alcatra, Costela de Porco, and more. With a lot to choose from, it was kinda difficult to think which one to try!

Located in Discovery Green, The Grove has a modern and chic atmosphere that will absolutely set your mood. Its main menu is consists of salad, steak, and sandwiches. You can also choose a delicious dessert right after your meal.

A Filipino-American Restaurant, Flip’ n Patties, shares the goodness of Filipino street food with the people of the US! They also offer Filipino-inspired gourmet Akaushi Burgers that are absolutely mouthwatering.

13. Jollibee

Best 14 Restaurants I’ve Visited in Houston, Texas

Jollibee is the most known Philippine Fastfood restaurant. I’ve been abroad for long years, and this is one of the things I miss about my home country. The chickenjoy, fries, burger, and the spaghetti, I always crave for these. The smell brings back a lot of memories of when I was still in the Philippines. I’m glad they also have this in Texas!

14. Gerry’s Grill

Best 14 Restaurants I’ve Visited in Houston, Texas

Another Filipino restaurant that made me feel like going back home! All the Filipino dishes that I wanted are here – Lumpiang Shanghai, Adobo, Chicharon Bulaklak. Tokwa’t Lechon Kawali, and a lot more! The Pinay foodie in me was so happy! There are a few Gerry’s Grill branches in the US, and one of them is here in Houston.
