By Two Monkeys Travel - Contributor January 14th, 2022 Posted in Guide for Filipinos, Travel Blog, VISA Application Guides 2 Comments

The usual visas people use when going to Europe is the Schengen C Visa. With this, you can stay at the Schengen Area for 90 days in a 180 day period at most. If you want to live long-term in a particular country of the Schengen Area, you will need to apply for a National Visa or a Schengen D Visa in the Philippines. Read this guide on how to obtain one.

A National or Schengen D Visa will allow you to live in a particular country for more than 91 days. Additionally, you can tour the rest of the Schengen Zone for a maximum of 90 or 180 days. This is also a requirement for getting a residence permit of the country you are living or sometimes you will need to apply for a resident permit first before getting one. Read more to learn!

How to Apply for a Schengen D Visa in the Philippines

15 Best Things to do in Iceland

Some countries have the same procedures, but some have not. You’ll need to check the Visa Application Center or their websites. But this is the common one:

  • Choose which type of visa is applicable for you, gather all the documents required (it may take you long as you’ll need documents from your host or other parties.) Some even need resident permits before applying for a visa.
  • Create an appointment at the visa application center or at the Embassy.
  • On the appointment day, bring your documents as well as ready your fee. Your biometrics might be taken.
  • Wait for the decision of the consul about your visa. Processing time would take at least 15 days and could take 6 – 12 months, especially if the documents are not complete or you are asked for an interview.
  • After a decision has been made, you can collect your passport with the visa (if you are approved) at the Embassy or Visa Application Center.

15 Best Things To Do in Piran and Portoroz, Slovenia

The process on how to get a Schengen D Visa in the Philippines may be tiring and long. But the wait and effort will be worth it as you would enjoy the Schengen Area more than Schengen C holders. You can also be with your family or live your dreams of working or studying in Europe. Don’t forget to know that you’ll also need to go through the Commission of Filipino Overseas before going out of the country. Good luck!

  1. Hi 🙂
Thank you for this, very informative!
I’d like to ask if my sister can invite me for a family reunification visa? She just got her resident permit in the Netherlands. Thank you so much 🙂
