Bali, also called as the Island of the Gods is a popular destination for travelers in South East Asia. It’s frequented for its beautiful beaches, rich culture, delicious food, tranquil nature and giant waves for surfing. Uluwatu is a popular surfing spot in Bali. Its location at the tip of the peninsula with high hills and views of the Indian Ocean makes it among the best locations for an enjoyable and relaxing trip in Bali. Uluwatu is the home of Hidden Hills Villas Bali, nestled at the hilltop with great views of the Indian Ocean and tropical surroundings.
Hidden Hills Villas is a luxurious resort of 5 uniquely designed villas. Each of its 1, 2 and 3 bedroom villas has its own theme. Their one-bedroom villas were designed based on designs and patterns of Santorini and Marrakesh. I was upgraded to a 2-bedroom villa on my stay.
It is very close to Padang-Padang beach (5-minute drive) and other secluded beaches and best surfing spots in Uluwatu. The famous Uluwatu temple which is visited by tourists from all over Bali to catch the beautiful sunset is just a short-drive away.
We were picked up at the airport by our driver Putu who patiently was waiting at the arrivals while our flight was delayed from Singapore. He assisted us with our bags and happily took our photos at the newly renovated Bali International Airport. I know he wants us to have the best experience in Bali, so he offered to bring us to a nice seafood restaurant in Jimbaran before we head directly to Uluwatu. It was a nice gesture but we kindly refused since we already had dinner at the airplane and we are really excited to see the Villa.
It was a no frills checkin process when we arrived at the resort. We were immediately escorted to our villa and was delighted to hear the news that we were upgraded to a 2-bedroom villa. The staff ensured that we are aware of all the facilities inside and briefed about the breakfast and other services. Few minutes later, the butler came back with a Molten Chocolate Cake, a lovely surprise for my friend’s birthday who joined me on this trip.
Every morning, the butler is on time for our daily breakfast served in our villa. They are available all day, we just need to call for the service and arrangements we plan for our day. They are always attentive to our needs and ensuring we are enjoying our stay.
We stayed at the very luxurious 2-bedroom Villa Sekapa. This roomy luxurious villa have a harmonious traditional balinese and contemporary design. Modern with high ceiling, elegant and tropical Bali surrounded by luscious green scenery. The bed is heavenly comfortable and there are plenty of wooden chairs, couches and sun beds. Villa is quipped with modern facilities including LED TV, Air-condition and a fully functioning kitchenette with a Nespresso machine.
The bathroom is huge. I love the outdoor showers and tub which is connected to our room through an elegant door. Each of the two rooms have separate bathrooms. Shower essentials are placed in huge ceramic bottles so you have an ample amount to use through out the day.
The villa has it’s own private infinity pool. It’s huge enough to accommodate all guests that will occupy the 2-bedroom villa.
Complimentary Breakfast is served hot daily inside the villa, you just need to fill out the forms a day before service. They have a wide selection of Western and Local favorites. We opted for local favorites such as Mee Goreng (Stir Fried Noodles), Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice) and Burbur ayam (Indonesian Rice Porridge). So much carbs to start our day but still a balanced meal with selection of seasonal fruits that goes with it. Everything were delicious and a hot Bali coffee is a perfect pairing.
All day dining is available as well, you just need to call and order from the menu. The butler will setup the table and bring your food in the villa. The grilled King Prawns that I ordered for lunch was the best!
Everything else you need are all within your reach. The villa itself is your home away from home. We spent a lot of time at the infinity pool while playing good music from the in-house bluetooth speakers and having beers to beat the heat, relax and enjoy the sun. You will never get thirsty since there are plenty of bottled water in the villa replenished daily. You can also order a selection of wine and cocktails, you just need to grab that wireless phone and make a call. I’m a coffee person and the nespresso machine at the kitchenette is really a delight for me.
If you feel like heading to the beach, you can just make arrangements hours prior to your departure so they can prepare the car service for you. The car was not available when we planned to head to Padang Padang beach but the staff happily arranged a metered taxi for us, it’s just 5 minutes away anyway. They also arrange a transport to see the sunset in Uluwatu Temple together with other guests.
We booked a massage at their spa on our second night. The Spa is setup at their Studio Villa but they can also do the massage at the comforts of your own villa. There are several treatments to choose from, we selected an hour of full body traditional massage. It was very relaxing and the price is just reasonable.
The location of this resort is like in a hidden secret garden. Just a quick turn from the main road and you will alight at their reception. There’s an elegant door that opens to a stairway with green surroundings that leads up to all the different villas. It’s quiet and peaceful all day and at night.
Though the location is strategic for a peaceful and relaxed environment with great views of the ocean, it is not far from the popular beaches such as Padang Padang and the less crowded Thomas Beach. Nearby attractions like the Uluwatu Temple is few minutes drive by car. Several restaurants and shops are also a short drive away. If you’re planning to take surfing lessons there are plenty of surfings schools around.
The Hidden Hills Villas Experience
This was my second time in Bali, the last time I visited was four years ago and I stayed in Kuta. I was really excited for my second visit and this time, staying in a luxury villa in Uluwatu. I know Uluwatu is a more relaxed and soothing environment than a party place like Kuta and Seminyak. That is what I’m looking forward to, a relaxed and yet an enjoyable trip.
From the airport pick up until departure, we were taken cared of by the staff of Hidden Hills Villas with warm service and hospitality. I already described how beautiful the place is but pair that with great service, great food and the best views in Uluwatu, overall all I got what I wanted, a fun, relaxed, luxurious and memorable vacation.
Note: This Luxury Hotel Review is in partnership with Hidden Hills Villas Bali (Uluwatu). The resort provided the complimentary stay on their 2-bedroom villa, all opinions on this article are my own.
