Radisson Blu Royal Astorija in Vilnius, Lithuania – Perfect for Your Classic Style

By Kach Umandap December 17th, 2017 Posted in Best Luxury Hotels, Destination, Europe Travel Blog, Travel Blog No comments

Every country that I visit is a milestone for me. But there’s something really special about the road to my 100th country– I feel like I’m closer and closer to realizing my dream of seeing even just a fraction of every single country in the world.

Lithuania is my 96th country, and I was welcomed with a 1-degree-freezing-weather. Good thing I was in the UK right in time for the Black Friday Sale, so I was able to buy those much-needed fur coats for my trip to the Baltic States and Norway! 🙂

Despite all the layerings I did to keep me warm, it was still a struggle to walk outside especially that I’m not that used to the cold since we’ve been based on the warm, sunny, and the humid Florida Keys for some time now. Good thing that Radisson Blu Royal Astorija is within the Capital’s Old Town so going around is a lot less of a struggle as everything is just so close.

Aside from the friendly and helpful staff, I’m giving you a list of why you’ll never go wrong in choosing Radisson Blu Astorija Hotel.

1) It’s in the Old Town- The Old Town is one of the largest surviving medieval towns in Northern Europe where almost all the attractions are. You’ll really save a lot of time and money on transportation by staying here.

2) It’s 6 kilometers away from the airport- From there, you can either take the bus, the taxi (for 20 Euros) or Uber which is more convenient for me. I only paid 4 Euros for it!

3) The view from the hotel is amazing!- The hotel building itself looks stunning and dates back as far as 1901. You’ll be surrounded by old buildings, churches, courtyards, and cafes you’ll feel like you’re taken hundreds of years back.

4) The breakfast buffet is excellent- They serve really good food (my favorite is the omelet) and fresh fruits to start your day. They have a wide selection perfect for every appetite.

5) It has a magnificent architecture!-  It dates back to 1901 and it with its undaunting beauty, it seems to me that this hotel is also an attraction in the Old Town.

The hotel pampers guests with 5-star amenities and takes them in either one of the 119 comfortable and spacious rooms. I was given a business room, and everything I need is right in its four corners– a huge and comfortable bed, an LCD TV with cable, a private bathroom complete with toiletries, robes & hair dryer, a sofa set, safety deposit box, and a minibar.

I had a wonderful view of the main street and old buildings from my window, and it’s just wonderful! My room is spacious enough to fit all my luggage even when it’s wide open– I even have a lot of space despite all the clutters (can’t help it especially that I’ve been moving a lot). The carpeted floor kept me warm in the freezing weather. The room is quiet and has access to high-speed wifi which is perfect for my live video. I am genuinely happy with my hotel 🙂

You can choose from the Standard Guest Room, Superior Double Room, Business Class Room, Junior Suite, Presidential Suite, Royal Suite, and Single Room.

For me, trying a local cuisine is one of the best ways of exploring a country. As I’ve mentioned earlier, the breakfast buffet is excellent– you’ll know that it is made only from the freshest and high-quality ingredients, so I’m sure everything else in this hotel is!

Astorija Brasserie Restaurant- Indulge in traditional french cuisines such as salade niçoise, onion soup, mussels, tender veal cheek, and crème brûlée. The experience wouldn’t be complete unless you get exceptional French wines and champagnes to compliment the food. The view from here is beautiful!

Astorija Bar- What could be better than getting the best view of the Old Town from above with an excellent liquor on hand? This full-service bar offers plentiful drink options, a full menu of entrees, pastries and desserts.

Spa & Wellness- You’ll feel like you’re taken back to the ancient world where massage treatments, body scrubs and wraps are integrated with tradition, religion and respect for the nature. They use only the highest quality natural and organic products on your delicate skin. You will feel revitalized both mind, body, and soul. You can enjoy other amenities such as work out at the Royal Health Club, the relax in the whirlpool or sauna. A few laps at the indoor pool is  a perfect way to end the day.

Meeting Rooms- Six flexible meeting rooms are available in the hotel that can accommodate up to 200 attendees. They have the latest in audiovisual equipment, air conditioning and Free high-speed wireless Internet access throughout the facility. The staff can provide catering services (you must try their brain food!) and meeting and event planning assistance to assure that the meeting will go on smooth from start to finish.

Weddings/Private Party Venue- Your dream wedding/private party will soon come true when you book with Radisson Blu Royal Astorija. They can cater for up to 200 guests and with their experienced staff, the program will definitely go smooth. They can also incorporate your chosen theme with the menu so everything will look and feel exactly as it is.

The Radisson Blu Royal Astorija Hotel is in the heart of Vilnius’ intriguing Old Town which displays Lithuanian architecture and tradition. Transport options are within an easy reach– Bus stop is only 0.2 km and Train station is only 1.5 km away.

Old Town- Walk around and see the magnificent 1,487 buildings which comprise this UNESCO World Heritage site that exemplifies the Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical movements. The business and commercial sections of the city make up the New City Center, with its modern architecture and style. A hot air balloon ride will be a perfect way to see the city from a bird’s eye view.

Cathedral Basilica- Just 1.9 km away from the hotel stands the majestic neo-classical architectural style of the Vilnius Cathedral which is also home to artworks and the oldest fresco in Lithuania. Being Lithuania’s main Roman Catholic Church, it was granted the title of ‘Basilica’ by Pope Pius XI in 1922.

Vilnius University- For architecture lovers out there, this is for you! This popular university was founded in 1579 and is one of the oldest in Northern Europe. The buildings highlight several eras and styles, from Gothic to Classicism which you’ll surely love.

Presidential Palace- Built in the square of Simonas Daukantas just outside the university area, the palace dates back to the 14th century. You may join any of the guided tours to explore the buildings that are now the official residence of the President of Lithuania.

Akropolis Entertainment & Shopping Center– North of the city center is this shopper’s paradise. It hosts a wide range of boutiques and brands, from sports shoes to high-end fashion. The mall also offers services and leisure activities, like cinema and casino.

Gate of Dawn- One of the remaining gates that were built into the city wall is world-famous The Lady Gate of Dawn, with a painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary, commonly named ‘Vilnius Madonna’. The site attracts more than half a million visitors per year.
