One of my favorite spots was the Pre-Hispanic Village. Walking through this recreated village, I felt like I had stepped back in time. Artisans were crafting traditional pottery, and there were performances of ancient dances and rituals. It’s an incredible way to see how the Mayan culture thrived and still influences life in Mexico today.

Another highlight was the Xcaret Mexico Espectacular, a night show that takes you through Mexico’s history from pre-Hispanic times to the present day. The costumes, the music, and the sheer energy of the performers are unforgettable. It’s a 2-hour spectacle that left me with a deep appreciation for the country’s diverse heritage.

Xel-Há: Nature Meets Culture

Next on the list is Xel-Há, an aquatic theme park that feels like a natural wonderland. It’s often called a natural aquarium, and for good reason. The lagoon is teeming with colorful fish, and the lush surroundings make you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden paradise.

I started my day with a swim in the cenotes—natural sinkholes that were sacred to the Maya. Seeing the hives and learning about their significance was fascinating, and tasting the honey was a sweet bonus!

Exploring the underground rivers was another highlight. These rivers run through ancient caves, and paddling through them felt like an exploration of the Earth’s hidden depths. The stalactites and stalagmites create an otherworldly atmosphere, and it’s easy to imagine the Maya using these caves for shelter and ceremonies.
