Who says that you have to spend so much on accommodation in Amsterdam? If you plan to stay in your hotel for the entire trip, go and book something extremely divine. But if you will spend most of your time outside, you can find affordable hotels that will still give you that superb service similar to that of the more expensive properties.

Lucky for us, we experienced a budget hotel in Amsterdam. It’s one of the hotels we stayed at when we had our honeymoon stop. If you are not familiar with the Albus Hotel, this is the perfect post to know why we recommend this for thrifty – travelers.

1. Hard to beat location

When you are traveling on a budget, you would always look for hotels that offer low rates. That’s quite logical, right? However, some of us are too excited to book affordable hotels without considering the location. More often than not, these hotels are far from the city center or establishments like restaurants. And what does that mean? It means you have to shell out more money for transportation costs just to see the fantastic spots and to just simply eat local meals.

It is strategically located at the city center where you can find a number of establishments.

When you stay here, it is not just the money that you are saving. You are also saving energy and time which you can use to see more sights and museums. For traveling couples who wish to see the best of Amsterdam but working on a shoestring budget, this is pretty much ideal.

Do you want to see the Flower Market and the Rembrandt Square? That’s easy when you stay at Albus because these are just 3 – minute walk from the property. It is also a great place to stay at if you wish to go shopping or perhaps, see the nightlife in the city.

What else can you find near Albus Hotel?

  • Dam Square
  • Central Station
  • Tram Stop
  • Nearby Parking Garage

2. Staff is helpful and accommodating

You might think that booking in a budget hotel is equivalent to having horror stories or nightmares from the staff. I couldn’t blame you for having that feeling. I’ve heard similar stories from friends and we still experience such – once in a while. However, Albus Hotel in Amsterdam will surely prove that wrong. Even if you are not paying so much for your stay, you still get the same genuine smile from their people. You can ask questions about which tourist or non – tourist spots to visit and they will professionally answer you. So if you want to have a DIY tour given your tight budget, you can easily ask tips and recommendations from the staff and you are ready to go.

3. Beds are comfortable

In case you still haven’t noticed, we move a lot. Let me give emphasis to ‘A LOT’! 🙂  While I still enjoy long road trips and train rides because of the stunning views, I would always look forward to having a comfortable bed after each journey. Mind you, sitting (sometimes sleeping) in trains isn’t an easy feat so I always wish for a nice bed at the end of the day. That’s pretty much my reward for surviving.

Try to imagine the movie scenes where the actors would just dive in their beds out of exhaustion. Believe me, I would love to do that every single time we check in at great hotels, and seeing the bed in Albus made that urge even stronger. But I had to control it so I can take decent shots of the room first for social media posting. 🙂 Truth be told, our bed would usually look like it surpassed a tornado after we took photos!

What’s another thing that I love about Albus? Their PILLOWS. These are so fluffy and huggable. Good thing we are on our honeymoon, otherwise I would be hugging my pillows instead of my husband. Kidding!

5 Reasons Why Albus Hotel is the Best Accommodation for Couples on a Budget in AmsterdamPersonally, I’m not particular with the space of the hotel rooms considering that it is only I and Jon who travel. Although I would consider Albus to have decent – sized rooms which range from 18 to 80 square meters. Again, I am more after the mattress. Besides, we rarely stay in our hotel rooms because we always have to hustle and see what’s outside.

4. Great breakfast to fuel up your day

What’s the next best thing after a great sleep –  in a very comfortable bed – surrounded by equally comfortable pillows? I would say BREAKFAST.

Have you seen some of my photos from our  previous travels? I am quite a ‘breakfast person’. I mean, how can you resist crispy bacons and other morning delights? In Albus Hotel, you can get that dreamy breakfast that will make you forget about your nightmares (but I’m sure you won’t have any if you stay here).

They have an in-house restaurant called Senses which offers heavenly lunch and dinner. You will have a lot of fun with their food because these are creatively and artistically designed. Talk about being passionate about their craft! Here’s the schedule of the restaurant if you want to check it out.

5. Modern and hip

It is modern and hip, and the neon lights add spunk to the entire interior of the property.

Even if you go to Amsterdam for business purposes, Albus Hotel would still be a nice choice given that it has its own business area with an internet connection. With this, I can say that Albus Hotel will give you the best of both worlds. And again, it won’t break your bank accounts.
