We arrived in Baku and went straight to our hotel; Kempinski Hotel Badamdar Baku hosted us and gave us 3 nights of complimentary stay in their property including breakfast. After our night on the train, we were secretly glad it was raining so we had no excuse but to make ourselves at home in this award-winning hotel!

The wonderful staff here offered us our choice of Spa treatments; Jonathan chose an Azeri Hammam, Russian Venik Treatment and traditional Thai Massage while I chose a full facial treatment and massage. Both therapists were so skilled and gave us great advice on looking after ourselves on the road, I can’t stop praising Gabil, the Azeri therapist who happily agreed to be in our video (see our Facebook page), he’s amazing!

The atmosphere in the spa is beyond relaxation, with a philosophy based on the healing elements of nature and the four seasons. Pure organic herbs and natural products are used for treatments which restore and rejuvenate the body back to a healthy state. There is a range of authentic massages available, from relaxation, deep tissue, Swedish and Thai, to bespoke blends of styles and techniques specifically tailored to the needs of the individual. The steam room and sauna provide natural cleansing through the pores and the relaxation room is perfect for meditation. We walked into the spa believing we felt fine, but we left feeling renewed and revitalized.

We wrapped up our quick visit to Baku, Azerbaijan in style as Kempinski Hotel Badamdar Baku offered to take us to the Train station in their own limousine! We can’t recommend this place more; our 4-day visit wasn’t enough so hopefully, we’ll get the chance again one day soon!

PEOPLE

The treatment and hospitality here is incredible, from the reception staff answering all our inquiries about where to go and eat in town with a permanent smile to the restaurant staff who made me the most delicious hot chocolate (literally like pure melted chocolate) even though it wasn’t on the menu! Their best therapist there is Qabil! Look for him and tell us afterwards if you agree!

No request was too much for the team here, especially Maksud, the front-desk manager, and his team who helped us in buying our train tickets back to Georgia and then arranging a late check-out so we could wait in comfort until our overnight journey. The comfort did not end here thanks to Elchin who drove us all the way to the train station, carried our luggage and stopped at a restaurant so we could buy food, such great service beyond his duty!

  1. Oh my goodness! That bathtub is amazing! You are a lucky girl.
I have never stayed at any of the Kempinski hotels before (for some reason I always chose ICH and Hilton) but I have just seen so many reasons to try it next time. And it looks like a real palace! Enjoy your journey!

  2. That’s a nice white grand piano there! I seldom white ones. Most are in black. I’m sure my eldest would be staying near the piano most of the time if we stay in this hotel. haha

  3. I’m not really into luxurious hotels, but I really love the bed of this hotel. I can sleep there all day. Anyway, a great detailed post about the hotel. I’m sure people who are interested in this hotel will find your post very helpful.

  4. I’m definitely sold on this hotel now after reading your extremely detailed review, the spa treatments and wonderful decor look sublime! A great read.

  5. Perfect for its name- luxury. Love everything youve presented from the amenities to the interiors and accommodations. I dont see any reason not to love and stay here.

  6. I would love to spend a night here with my husband! This place looks really great and awesome! And, what’s more good about it is the spa treatments you can enjoy! Oh, can I stay here, even just in my dreams? lol.

  7. WOW! This is beautiful Jonathan. I love the ambiance and the interior design of the hotel. This is a perfect place for relaxation. Plus the foods look so delicious!

  8. Hello Jonathan. WOW! Top notch hotel, great accommodation and amazing facilities. Kempinski Baku exudes luxury from the moment you step in. You know what I especially like? The balcony. I just like rooms with balconies. I think it has something to do with my preference for outdoors.

  9. That was some awesome rounded bath tub! Would love to take a dip in that. This just upped the luxury hotel tag. Would also love to try the food!

  10. You really do visit some amazing places. I really do have wanderlust now.

  11. Your luxury hotel reviews just make me drool! I am especially jealous over this one!
