KEEN Women’s Aphlex Mid WP Boot Review – Reliable Shoes Your Feet Will Love

By Kach Umandap April 21st, 2017 Posted in Travel Gear Reviews No comments

Reliable – this is how I would describe my KEEN Women’s Aphlex Mid WP Boot. I used them in Antarctica, Trekking around Venezuela, and while walking around Argentina.

It is simply a functional, comfortable, and stylish pair of shoes that my feet adore. I have the plum one – love the design!

Obviously, I have been wearing these A-Phlex KEEN shoes a lot and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking good outdoor shoes or hiking boots.

There are many reasons why it is a great choice, and I would break them down below.

Women’s Aphlex Mid WP Boot Review

Made from synthetic leather and rubber, these shoes are flexible, comfortable, and lightweight. The fit is nice and sturdy, but it does not restrict the range of motion of your foot. I find it high performing in these categories:

Functionality: The TPU Phlexoskeleton provides the foot structure and support. Even if you step on an errant rock, you can count on your shoes to stabilize you. Even if the lugs are not super deep, they have good grip. You can rely on the rubber outsole to look after you!

Its molded TPU heel and toe protection features are a gift from heaven as well – you can walk as hard as you want and your feet will stand the abuse. Think medium-level hiking – it is the ideal footwear.

Meanwhile, the high sides offer maximum ankle and foot support and the waterproof membrane, and the synthetic mesh keeps the moisture out while keeping everything else breathable. You can literally submerge them in water, and they will come out dry!

Comfort: The KEEN Women’s Aphlex Mid WP Boot needs no break-in – always a good thing! You can use it straight out of the box, and it is true to size.

Also, it has a wide toe box, which is perfect for two things: first, you do not have to worry about blisters, and second, you can always double up on socks to add support for your feet and to keep warm in case you are hiking in the cold. On warmer temperatures, there should be no issue, too. The membrane is breathable, and the natural odor control takes care of the stink!

Style: Plus points on the style, of course! For such a functional pair of boots, these A-Phlex KEEN shoes still manage to look feminine and rugged at the same time. It is not clunky at all, and there is no unnecessary element to its design. Everything has a purpose, and it all comes together nicely.

Affordability: For their high performance, the price is very competitive. The boots feel good, it is waterproof, and it can stand the trail while giving adequate support to your feet. Top this off with a good price, and there is absolutely no reason why you should not get it yourself!

But there is no one product that is perfect in every single way…

So now let us talk about cons, so you have a balanced view of these boots:

  • While the foam padding and tongue offer fantastic support, there is not a lot of torsional rigidity. If you are after lateral support, the one offered by the KEEN Women’s Aphlex Mid WP Boot is average.
  • Also, as mentioned, this is ideal for medium-level hikes. If you take it on harder hikes with a heavy pack all the time, the EVA may wear out quickly, and this compromises the cushioning you get.
  • Similarly, the lugs are not that deep and lack the traction needed if you are going through really steep slabs.

But for general outdoors and hiking use, there is no serious issue regarding the KEEN Women’s Aphlex Mid WP Boot. It will give your feet the support they need, at the best value, while keeping up with your style, too! It is an overall great choice for outdoor shoes.
