Valid Philippines ID Guide – How to Apply for a Philippine Postal ID

If you need a valid ID, especially for those newly married or not employed, the best choice is to get a Philippine Postal ID. Before the Postal ID was a piece of paper with your details type-written, you need to paste your picture and laminate it. Parang current TIN ID, pero ngayon sosyal na! 

The new Postal ID has the basics – your name, address, date of birth and signature that is usually needed in a valid ID. Plus it has security features to verify that the card is genuine and not fake.

A Philippine Postal ID is only valid up to three years though, but anybody of any age can get this. It is also offered to Foreign Residents of the Philippines and Special Foreign Retirees. If ever you need IDs for passports or licenses or need one ASAP, Postal ID is recommended.

    • Birth Certificate – (PSA or Local Civil Registry)
    • GSIS or SSS UMID Card
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Valid Passport

If you have been married, bring a Marriage Certificate to verify the change of name

If you have none of the two, please submit 2 of the following – one should have your photo and signature:

  • 2 Filled up Philippine Postal ID Application forms.
  • Proof of Identity
    • Passport (valid for at least 6 months
    • Any 1 of the following:
      • Alien Certificate of Registration Identity Card (ACRI-Card)
      • Long Stay Visitor Visa Extension (LSVVE)
      • Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)
      • Diplomatic Visa
      • Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV)
  • Proof of Address – Pass 1 of the following, not that it must show your address.
    • Barangay Certificate of Residency issued within three (3 months) before Postal ID application
    • Bank Statement
    • Credit Card Statement
    • School Billing Statement
    • Utility Bill (cable, electric, internet, landline, telephone, water)
    • Statement of account or certification of the place you are staying (hotel, home, etc.) within three (3) months prior to application
    • Certification from the hotel, transient home or any temporary residence within three (3) months prior to application
    • Notarized, if applicable, Land, House or Condominium Lease Contract

How to Apply for a Philippine Postal ID

1. Go to a Post office in your town or anywhere near you and get your documents screened.

2. Proceed to the nearest ID capture station where you will get to be photographed and have your fingerprints scanned.

3. After getting your data taken, wait for your Philippine Postal ID

  • Metro Manila – About 15 working days from application
  • Other major cities and municipalities – about 20 working days
  • Island provinces and remote barangays – about 30 working days
