Wow! Some of the hostels looks more of a hotel rather than a hostel which is both amazing and scary. Amazing since traveling on a budget doesn’t mean sacrificing a comfortable sleep at night. Meanwhile, it’s scary since you may think that you’re paying less but you end up paying more. Like the sound of the curtains round beds at the Go Sapa Hostel. The ones with the beach views all look amazing for scenery. (Lucy/R is for Hoppit)

Seriously loving these list posts. I stayed in a few of these while I was in Vietnam, and some not so good ones too! My travel companion had really bad food poisoning so we spent a lot of time in the hostels, and I think that’s when you really need somewhere decent!

I was with my college friends celebrating the victory of our department during our University Intramurals. We all went at this local bar to celebrate. I happen to chance upon a guy seated in the bar and then we were introduced by the bartender.
To make the long story short, I ended up having one of the most interesting conversations in my life with an utter stranger who was in town for a business engagement (if I recall correctly, it was with a local mall).
I asked him what was his most favorite country that he visited. I was thinking he might have answered Italy, France or anywhere in Europe but he answered: “Vietnam, because not everybody goes there and everything’s almost cheap there.”
I couldn’t forget that answer. And that’s the reason why I want to visit Vietnam, to see for myself if it’s really cheap there since I’m a proud cheapskate. Haha.
If given the luck I will win, I plan to travel there by December 2015. I have a full-time day job and December means long holidays (no need for VLs! Hopefully). ☺

What I like most about the Two Monkeys Travel Forum is the sense of connectedness with fellow wanderlusters. I rarely join forums or even if I do, I rarely comment.
But with Two Monkeys Travel Forum, I recently posted an article and I’m so glad to have initiated an online conversation with strangers but all share the same love for travel. The sense of community is just contagious and I eventually got over my fear or shyness of posting (what if nobody will respond?). Thank good I did! That was a first for me.

I would really love to visit Vietnam because of its breathtaking views,to try their amazing food and meet the friendly Vietnamese. No, I haven’t been to Vietnam and any other places as a matter of fact I have my passport since 2013 but never got the chance to use it and I think this is the right time to get it stamped ( *wink* ) . I never got the chance to travel local or international but that doesn’t mean that I am not enjoying my life for every breath that I take is the greatest journey of my life. Why should you pick me, well I am a positive person who always look at the brighter side of life and if you choose me you’ll give me the opportunity to create memories for a lifetime and experience travelling for the first time.
2. What do you like about the Two Monkeys Travel Forum and any suggestions on how we can improve our community?
What I really like about the Two Monkeys Travel Forum is how it can amazingly inspire others including me, by reading your articles it feels like I already been to that specific place. feels like I already know that place. How we can improve our community? You can have a page in your website where members can upload photos of their most amazing views of their hometown then every week you will choose a photo and feature them in your blog with this members will participate more and be really active on the forum.

Please bear with me. I’m not good in writing, I swear.
1.Why would you like to visit Vietnam?? When are you planning to go to Vietnam? Have you been to Vietnam before? Why should we pick you?
We are all aware that Vietnam is known for the North Face bags. And to be honest, that is one of my reasons why I chose to visit there. Lame, right? 🙂 But yes, I have been to Vietnam; on June 2014, with my sisters and my two favorite travel buddies. We also chose Vietnam as our entry point for our SEA trip and Bangkok in the last leg. We did the half day Cu Chi Tunnels tour. I know that this is a must when you go to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon). I can say that was a very educational experience. We were also able to spend a day in Mekong Delta. The cruise was amazing; the guides we had were so nice and I think, this is a great way to experience Vietnam.
So, why would I like to revisit Vietnam? I have been following several travel blogs and there’s one entry that caught my attention. This blogger experienced snow in Sapa, Vietnam, when he arrived there middle of December 2013. My reaction was: what?!?!?! Like seriously?! Snow in Vietnam?! I immediately read it; then, I told myself that this is another destination that should be ticked off my bucket list and I should be there this December, to also experience snow.
However, my reason of revisiting Vietnam has become deeper when I learned about MyTEFL through the Two Monkeys Travel Forum. Yes, I am planning to take the 120 hour course this September and I am very thankful because of the 40% discount. *grab it while it’s hot!* It is one of my dreams to teach English abroad and Vietnam is actually on top of my list.
Why should you pick me, then? Well, who doesn’t want a free? Hello! It’s free! Haha! I would love to learn more about Vietnamese culture. I like Vietnamese Pho and would like to try Bun Bo Hue. 🙂 But whether to be picked or not, I am still willing to share every details of our Vietnam trip. I will still pursue my dream to teach English there. And, I won’t let anything stop me from fulfilling that dream.

Two Monkeys Travel Forum – YAABH!
Yes, you are a big help! It’s true. Here, every member can share their travel experiences, in and out of the Philippines. You can also meet fellow travelers who share same passion for travel. You are making sure that every member will learn things about travel that we never could anywhere else. Nevertheless, this community is really comforting.
What can I suggest? Well, please have more events, parties or get togethers where everyone can participate. I believe it is a great way that we can come close to one another.

I have been to Vietnam, in Hanoi specifically because I heard it is one of the most nice places to come to. I’m a budget traveler and I’ve always wanted to visit Vietnam since I heard it’s cheap in there. Last July when I visited Vietnam, it was such a sight. I took a leave from work for 4 days (without pay!) but it didn’t matter because I am fulfilling my dream of travelling the world. I’m taking it one step at a time.
Why should you pick me? That’s a tough question. For one, it is my birthday last August 6, yes, this one is true – my birthday was 2 days ago. Winning this would make me so happy on my birthday and I’ll consider this a post birthday treat from my fellow monkeys! Hahaha. Second, I really really love to travel. Time is a problem and budget. But budgets I can always make it work. What I really want is to travel and learn new things and share it to everyone. When I came back from my vacation, people asked me how Vietnam is and I shared to them my happy experience learning the Vietnamese culture and of course shopping!
I remember when I was at the airport, I was so sad and I was crying because I don’t wanna leave Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam anymore!! Too bad I can’t stay long as I have work.
I told my friend in Vietnam that if ever another opportunity comes, I WILL COME BACK. I hope this is it!! I really really wanna come back to Vietnam and try Hanoi!! Wuhoooo!
This time, I hope I get inspired to travel independently!!

What I love about Two Monkeys Travel Forum? First, the suggestions and the photo adventures of our fellow monkeys! Hahaha! They have awesome travel suggestions, itineraries, cheap places to stay in and of course the photos which make you really want to travel A LOT. Second, the people – the monkeys are so nice and welcoming to new monkeys like me. They invite us for travels, get togethers and of course they suggest the best places!! I love it there – whenever I have the urge to travel and don’t know what to do, I can just ask the other monkeys for suggestions and they will give lots and lots of options!! #besttravelforum
You guys are much better than other travel blogs in Google!!
How can WE improve this community? Simple. Hope we feature a travel adventure of a fellow monkey to other. A complete and detailed blog of how her travel adventure began and the places he/she visited. That would be an interesting read!!

This is in response to the awesome group’s Vietnam giveaway trip!
Questions :
1.Why would you like to visit Vietnam?? When are you planning to go to Vietnam? Have you been to Vietnam before? Why should we pick you?
First, of all, I’ve heard so much about Vietnam from bloggers and travelers and how each one has never failed to mention the exotic charm of the country. I’ve seen the photos and I can not argue about their claim. I could have easily gone to this country, if I wanted to, but, the weakness of my travel spirit has always hindered me from leaving the comforts of my routine and the security of my own country.
After being inspired by Kach through her relentless pursuit of freedom through travels, I’m finally willing to let go of my reservations and take hold of the chance to experience an independent travel, for the first time. I’ve traveled some parts of Japan, but, all with the close assistance of so many willing friends. It was my first time to leave the country and the overwhelming feeling choked me that I wasn’t able to enjoy the places in all their glory. As I look back and stare dreamily at my photos, I could only feel regret at how I didn’t really look and breathe and take all the sceneries in.
I would like to visit Vietnam, because, I’d love to be able to open myself to the possibility of a “real” travel, the kind which allows me to finally leave my comfort zone, to be independent, to fill me with the heart of the place, to breathe and really feel the spirit of traveling.
As to why I need to join a contest to visit this country and why you should pick me, well, the Two Monkeys has started really humbly. I believe it’s one of the essences of traveling. To be able to enjoy places, without ripping your pockets. To show and inspire others, as Kach has inspired me, that traveling is not about boasting and being flashy, but, about being responsible and wise to be able to live a sustainable life of traveling. And if that means, I grab every chance I have for a free travel and wake up at 4am to write a 4-paragraph answer to one question, then I happily would. Haha!
As I’ve never been to Vietnam, I plan to go on my birthday in November. A day that special would make the experience extra-special. It’s another reason why you should pick me. It will be a nice birthday present. ^^
2. What do you like about the Two Monkeys Travel Forum and any suggestions on how we can improve our community.
What I like about the Two Monkeys Travel Forum is the positive outlook that has become a culture of the group, which, allows every new member to feel all kinds of possibilities. It makes people aspire for what they think is unattainable. It gives them courage and inspires them to take chances and to take risks.
I can only suggest that each day, a member is handpicked by the Admins to talk about how traveling makes them a better person or how they think traveling would shape them as an individual. With the number of members the forum has, it’s so easy to get drowned by overwhelming posts of others. Some would just prefer to hide behind these experienced travelers, reading, liking, and staying quiet. I hope each one is given the chance to be heard and “seen”. Each voice counts, anyway. Encouraging others to speak out and “show” themselves could also be one way to give them courage to go out there and experience the world more, to be brave and to take risks and chances.
Of course, this is merely a suggestion and an opinion. Some may have better ones than mine. I only hope for the forum to get better, and hope that others would speak about this part, too. Their opinions, I’m positive, do count, after all.

I’m planning to surprise my boyfriend on his birthday this coming January, this will be our first backpacking trip abroad “together”. Probably this could really help me a lot in choosing a good and affordable place to stay for a memorable trip. ^^
