By Kach Umandap April 11th, 2016 Posted in Travel Gear Reviews, Travel Giveaways and Discount Deals 90 Comments

Win a set couple’s set of Travelpro luggage worth $920!

In 2013, before Kach and I had ever met, we each set off on the first stage of our new lives travelling the world. We travelled on a low budget, travelling only by bus, train, hitch hiking and later by motorbike – we were backpackers! Since then we have travelled together across 5 continents, building Two Monkeys Travel as we go.Caribbean Wedding Preparations with Carnival Cruises

One of the biggest changes in our lives has been in our travel lifestyle, from travelling by bus and staying in shared dorms in cheap hostels, we now travel mostly by car and often stay in luxury and boutique hotelsFrom Monkey Backpackers to Luxury Travellers! For many months we would show up in luxury hotels, dragging our dusty, wrinkled old backpacks behind us, and we realised that it was time for a change!

When we flew to Florida in December 2015 for our first ever US road trip, we drove to Boca Raton to meet with Travelpro International, one of the top luggage companies in world and provider of luggage to many of the world’s top airlines, their pilots and cabin crews. Airline staff fly more than anyone else and their luggage probably has to deal with more than any other luggage in the world, so it has to be the toughest, lightest and most efficient luggage in the world. So it sounded like the perfect luggage for our travelling lifestyles!TravelPro Luggage - Caribbean Wedding Preparations with Carnival Cruises

When we met with Scott from Travelpro, we learned the company’s original founder actually invented the world’s first ever properly-functioning roll-on luggage. That’s pretty impressive when you stop and think about all of the rolling luggage that now travels around the world all day, every day.

We decided to work together to find out if Travelpro luggage could handle the kind of travel we do and the wear and tear that goes along with that, so they gave us our choice of their entire luggage range! Kach chose a stylish Crew 10 – 21” Hardside Spinner, while I tried to retain a little bit of the backpacker within me, with a T Pro Bold – 30” duffel bag, made out of tough, durable canvass type material, with two big wheels which allow it to be dragged across pretty rough surfaces.

Our new bags travelled with us all the way from the US to Colombia, to Istanbul, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Israel and finally back to the USA again (California, Las Vegas and Grand Canyon in Arizona), all in just three months. The bags were really put through their paces through deserts, over mountains and across the oceans. They’ve been thrown in trucks, trains, pickups and buses, dragged through sand and snow, not to mention the weekly beatings from airline baggage handling. After three months of constant and taxing travel, aside from a few cosmetic marks, the luggage is in great shape and still working perfectly, which given what we’ve put it through is quite an achievement!

Because we know first-hand how Travelpro luggage handles our type of travel and the challenges that come with that, we went back again to Travelpro a few days ago to meet up with Scott and continue with our amazing partnership.

Because Kach and I are approaching our three year anniversary of traveling together, we are starting with an awesome ‘Love and Travel Story giveaway contest with Travelpro, for the chance to win a couple’s set of Crew 10 21” Hardside Spinners (2 pieces) of Travelpro® luggage, valued at $920 (Retail price) for you and your partner!

  1. This is our travelove story in exactly 143 words.

He lives for the city. He plays video games, eats out, doodles. He loves rainy days.

She leaves from the city. She takes photographs, stares at sunsets, seeks adventure. She loves the sun.

    He meets Her.

She takes Him up a mountain. He is surprisingly interested. She leads Him off of cliffs, through rivers and onto beaches. He is unexpectedly refreshed.

They climb more, dive more, walk more, see more. He learns to embrace the New.

He is by no means the most practical or thrilling of adventurers, but is by no means the same. Since meeting Her, He feels, a little bit of everything has changed.

He is now weary of the malls, the hustle and bustle of the city. He now looks up at the sky and wishes upon more stars. And the stars respond: “You have Her hand to hold.”

  2. Brian Christian Agdigos and I first met when we became schoolmates last 2000 and neither of us imagined that we will meet again after 12 YEARS! Last June 2012 we bumped into each other in a marathon held at Ilocos Norte.

It was last 2014 when our love story really started. To pursue my career as a health professional, I applied for a job where he is working. Surprisingly, at the day of my interview, he was the first person whom I met. Fortunately I got hired. When he knew that I have already started working, he consistently invites me to join running events with him but most of the time I fail to join because of conflict of schedules. However, he has been so smart with strategies! I can vividly remember that he visited me everyday before at the gym not to join me with zumba classes but to wait for me until I am done with it then eventually invites me for a run. At first, all I thought his only intention was to have a companion while running but actually it was one of his ways to show his feelings for me. From that time on, we often go out for a run and eventually opened his true feelings. I didn’t expect that from that everyday run will start a LOVE STORY. ? We took it slowly so we can start our partnership with right timing.

I am not really good with words so since running has been a part of our love story, last October 2014 I said Yes to Brian when I handed a note to him saying “YOUR HARDEST RACE IS OVER, I AM OFFICIALLY YOURS! ?

Honestly speaking, we haven’t tried planning for a travel. Our passion is running so we focus on joining different running events in the Philippines. We have also included in our bucket list to join marathons outside the country. We are planning to join Standard Chartered Marathon in Singapore this year.

The most memorable running event that we had is the “Run Beyond Boarders” last April 19, 2015. It was our first 42kilometer run together wherein we took the chance to see the beauty of nature at the top of Apayao. We conquered the uphill roads of Solsona- Apayao to make it to the finish line which made it more challenging! The experience was worth it because I have learned not to easily give up and to be positive to overcome any challenge.

There are times when I have thought of asking why we haven’t done making plans for a travel. However, at a second thought, I learned that running is like travelling. We discover new places and we meet new friends. Little did I know that as we join running events from different places, it seems like we are already on a TRAVEL! ❤️

Cheers to all running and travelling couples! ?

  3. Brett and I met in an online dating site back in August 2013. He lives in New Jersey, USA and I live in the Philippines. Yes 8000 miles away! We are total opposites; he loves video games, old school movies (black & white ones) and punk rock music. But we have in common- we love to travel and visiting theme parks! We went to Hong Kong Disneyland, Ocean Park Adventure, Universal Studios Singapore & Legoland Malaysia. But I don’t go with extreme rides, so he goes alone and I just take picture of him as possible as I can.Top of the beaches we visited was Boracay-famous white beach island in the Philippines, we had so much fun as we drove the Buggy ride going to Mt. Luho the highest point overlooking the Island of Boracay. We are happy to share that our U.S visa fiance petition just got approved and I am scheduled for interview in the next 2 months. We are approaching our 3rd anniversary and this is really the greatest gift for us. I can’t wait to make more memories with him and share it with all of you. God Bless Two Monkeys. All the best!

  4. I met a guy who owns a yacht. We slept in the ‘magic’ hammock and made love under the moon and stars. Tony is fantastic and amazing.
We sailed from Boracay to Palawan to Malaysia. My first time sailing the genoa fell into water and we had to pull it out of the water and we laugh. We hit the reef in Coron but Tony still managed to get off the reef even though he was very drunk and sleepy. We went island hopping around Palawan to Borneo Malaysia with engine problems, bend propeller shaft and people trying to kidnap us. We hauled the yacht out in Kudat to fix the boat and lived there for 7 months where we also adopted a stray cat we named Tilly.
We then sailed back to the Philippines and everything broke again……..but we fixed it, again. With the help of God and/or Tony, we survived. I think I know how to build a boat now.
We live like many other people would wish. We have great and bad moments but still we have a great Yachties Life. We are looking forward for our next adventure. Today we celebrating our 2nd year anniversary together…….we have to go and find the magic hammock now.

    1. Hi Melchora! Thank you for joining in our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”. What a great tale of love and adventure. Good luck guys! Wishing you safe and happy travels together ???

  5. My dearest Andrew Putnam and I met through playing online RPGs – a YahooGroup mailing list and the first iteration of Never Winter Nights. I thought he was a girl first because his female character (he used the same character for both games) was so well-balanced and realistic! We were in correspondence for quite a while, first comparing notes about characters and talking about the game, but steadily our conversations turned to our interests and circumstances in the offline world. By the time Valentine’s Day in the early 200s hit, we realized we were in love with each other, so at a time when the Phils still had shoddy dial-up internet and texting abroad cost an arm and a leg, we kept communication lines up to make it work. We finally met in 2007 when he flew over here, and have taken trips together: day visits to Tagaytay and Laguna, a short stay in Palawan, meet-ups in SoCal, and my visit to Kansas.

    1. Thank you Jocelyn for sending your wonderful story and for joining in our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”. We wish you luck ☺☺☺

  6. Hello Kach & Jon 🙂

Almost a year ago..Me and Duncan met through a site, and decided to continue our friendship through email.. i was working 12 hours back then and i remember the days i need to sneak out during work just to see his reply on my email haha! We cant catch up with each other because i will be awake here (Philippines) and it would be his midnight there (UK) and whenever i need to reply his message i need to wait until i get to work again because i don’t have any WiFi or an internet on my phone and then one day he offered me to add him on facebook and so i did.. till then using a free facebook (lol) i get to received his good morning and good night every day and night. He’s a very sweet man and loves to talk about life and his dreams! He is a traveler since, last 2014 he already visited Thailand and Cambodia. My life is really boring before i met duncan it’s been always work -home -work -home routine for me until one message from him changes everything..He told me he already booked a flight bound to Manila and he’ll be waiting for me at the airport.

January 9,2016 3pm i was waiting on him to arrive, i was with my mom and dad.. i was worried because it’s already 3:30 and i am not seeing any duncan,i checked the flight status and it’s not found anymore,my heart beats so fast that time,i looked around and a white man seems familiar is walking fast,i ran to the arrival gate and i was stunned that man is Duncan, and i dont know what to do.. it’s awkward but i said a loud “Pssssst!” to catch his attention. He greeted my parents and hugged me.

He asked my parents permission to take me to Palawan.. after almost 2hours of talking and promising they finally let me.January 15,We flew to Puerto Princesa we visited some beaches and the famous underground river and after that we had a 6hours roadtrip to el nido where we tried zipline (it was my first time) and after days spending there we took a 9hr riding the boat to Coron where we spent the last few days of our itinerary.. We did the island hopping and we experienced getting lost too (we start driving from 2pm and we got out the island 6pm) and the most funny about our trip is we are using an automatic motor bike through our journey, the roads are very rocky yet our motorbike is such a bad ass lol!

He taught me how to be brave (to swim wearing only a life jacket lol because i cant swim),to face my fears (i am afraid of heights but he convinced me to try a 500ft ish zipline) and to go out of my comfort zone,he made me realize i am free to choose my path and to never be a slave of work.February 17 we got married ,before that he did the classic “Pamamanhikan”.He taught himself tagalog too so he can talk to my parents 🙂 I am so proud that he is my husband and i am lucky that i met him,I love him to bits. We will keep traveling soon after we sort things (visa thing) and Amsterdam is on our bucket list because that’s his gift to me, to see the Anne Frank house. After our wedding he flew back to the uk and that is the most painful moment for me,it’s been two months since he left and we keep our strong communication through facebook and video call and overseas calls. I cant wait to be in his arms again, and watch the sunset and grow old together.

    1. Thank you Rohanie for joining in our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”. Your entry is now valid! ??? Good luck ??

    2. Ps: my husband told me also when he was in his teen age years, together with his mom — a gypsie fortune teller told him what features of a wife he would have in the future, and guess what? it is exactly my features the gypsie was talking about.. it’s like destiny lol!

  7. Aloha!! Me and my husband Chris met in a restaurant in coron back in June 2014 while he is on vacation with his girlfriend that time and I was there with friends.he approach me and ask me if I could add him on fb but that time I’m not mood into a relationship or friendship with opposite sex bcuz I’m healing my broken heart from my 7 years relationships.. Chris work in a cruise ship and I’m a travel nurse..
After one month I felt so strange and I decided to find him on Facebook and add him in just one second he accepted my request and that day we talk about 20 hours then I found out he and d gf broke up..after 6 mos of knowing each other online..he flew in phils to spend new year with me and my fam..we traveled together for 24 days and before he left he ask me to marry him and I said yes..
Now we’re 8 mos happily married and loving it…and living in Maui hawaii..Mahalo…

  8. My family’s love story starts over 17 yrs ago. I meet my husband in the USA, November 1998 while making breaks for cars to pay for college.. He is from Honduras and I from the States. He didn’t speak English (still has a hard time) and my Spanish was very limited. We made it work. Many, or as I should say most, never thought we would make it. Some still doubt after so many years.

My husband was ordered deported from the US before we meet. After working on his residency we realized our case was very difficult even though we have 3 beautiful daughters. In June 2006 he had to go back. There are no words to describe the pain and emptiness we have felt through the years, but love has gotten us through. Our girls have been bounced back and forth so much – they are truly amazing!

In July 2009 I (and my daughters) moved to Honduras. I just had to be with my husband. My children needed their papi. Our marriage and keeping our family together has always been first in our hearts and minds.

Our love has held us together between two countries and many years. It has brought us to the present day where we are finalizing my husband being able to live in the USA. We have now been separated again for almost 2 years to complete this process. The last 10 years are almost wrapped up. What next?

We will soon start our new adventure together in the States, afterwards we dream of traveling the world 🙂 Many would have given up, but not us. Love has and will prevail! Our story may not be that of romance, but it is of determination, commitment, dedication and faith. Now ready for the next 17 years 🙂

    1. You two are inspirations ❤❤❤ Thank you Rikaine for sharing your wonderful love story with us and for joining in our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”. 9. Its been years that “milooves” became my name. Name by my one and only mylove Anne Jelicah D. Ragay. I can still remember the days that we are just friends, talk everything under the sun, go places we want to go, share thoughts about things that we usually encounter in our work and foods “resto” that we both want to visit with our friends. Before then i dream about having a exclusive time with her but seems its not the right moment to happen.

It started with a text which caught my attention and my feelings. Her text that night gave me the feeling of importance and care. From very moment i knew there is something between us… asumero…
We have moments together which leads to confrontation to revelation love which for me the prime days that i cant even imagine. My world became her world my life became her life in short “binigay ko na lahat – all out na ito teh”

I became we and me became us. All of a sudden we explore the world together as if we are married ” wish ko lang” we done so many things that me myself didnt see it coming. Our first and most unforgettable trip in asia were in Phiphi Island In Thailand. First time for everything as a couple traveller. We had dinner date by the seashore and ate our favorite foods, because thats what we’re fond of doing ever si since we’re still friends. Nothings changed on our Food trips. The most unforgettable trip we had in the philippines was the one in Gigantes Island Iloilo, because my Girlfriend is literally sick and we were in dilemma of going back to the city or stay and pray for her recovery. Vomiting and diarrhea and consistent fever and yes Dehydrated. She insisted on staying on the island and telling me she will be fine anytime soon. And yes! The next day she’s fine and ready to go on a island hopping!

But thats not it. We believe that all relationships must come to test and ours was a test of trust, love, communication, time and patients. We enter a long distance relationship which i consider a very extraordinary type of relationship nowadays. Ldr for me is the most sophistacated relationship i ever thought. This make both partner to have the trust that one can ever give to someone. Patients which conquer all time. Love that define as unconditional and communiction that does not not know distance. Ldr teaches us to dream like babies. Everything is possible as long you yourself believe that you can do it.

We both believe that if we beat this distance there is a happy ending, sweet success and happily ever after.

It’s almost 2 years since our LDR relationhip started and we barely see each other in a year but when God permits we always go on a trip and make it memorable always and a must! We love travelling together and going to an island and having adventure together. It is very limited time but for sure we don’t loose hope for our dreams to be together.

  10. Hi Travelmonkeys! I’m such a big fan of both of you and your travels. Our story starts in Moalboal while free diving to see the magnificent sardine run. I was with my friend that time and he was with his friend too. My friend, tour guide and I was resting at some rock near the trench coz we didn’t get a boat for a tour. Were resting and recovering from jellyfish stings coz apparently they’re all washed up near the shore and I couldn’t see them. In between itches, my friend told me that a cute guy is coming up from a boat nearby. I looked up and didn’t really give any attention coz I’m more interested with my red stung body and the itchiness. I was wearing a two piece and immediately regretted that. His tour guide came up to us and iffered my friend to teach her how to fres dive coz she just kinda floats back up. He asked Derrick, the guy my friend was pointing at if its okay. And he was okay with it. After snorkeling and teaching my friend how to dive, we came back to the rock and Derrick was there. He started a conversation with me and my friend. And because we were snorkeling and we both don’t have a phone. He didn’t ask for a phone number but he gambled on asking me for a lunch date on Monday (a day after we met) on starbucks in ayala at 12nn. I told him, how could he be so sure that I’ll actually go there. And he just said that he just knows. Fast forward, I didn’t go. 2 weeks passed and I flew to Manila for a fashion show. I don’t really check my filtered messages. But I’m with my girls on a break from practice so I did. And there was a message from a guy named Derrick. He said, “Hey! You’re the girl from Moalboal”. I was so surprised. I can’t believe that he found me. I replied with how did you find me, of course. Surprisingly, he found me on hashtags on instagram. Yes! From hashtags! So random. Until now, I still can’t believe it. My flight back to Cebu was exactly on the morning of Valentines Day. He asked to be his Valentine’s Date. But my flight got canceled and rebooked at 7pm. He reserved some dinner and stuff. So I was okay with it. But then, it got late. I have to fly 8:55pm and arrive 9:55pm. Its so late and I was so worried I might not make it for the dinner date. He was with me all the time while waiting for my flight. Asking me to message him the flight number and when I board and arrive. I messaged him when I arrive and bolted to the taxi stand. Someone held my hand and smile with a flower and said Happy Valentines. I was so surprised. We talked all the way to the resto and had our dinner date. We kept dating until he was called to work to Jakarta. We still kept in touch everyday. And I’m also busy in school. So we decided to travel across Asia. Fast forward again, We traveled Malaysia and Bali. Went trekking, scuba diving and surfing. From Komodo Island, Rinca Island and Lombok in Bali. It was breathtaking especially sharing this experience with my now boyfriend. He went to Istanbul after and I continued to travel in Thailand. We’ll be meeting again in Cebu. It was such an amazing experience for both of us and were ready to travel again soon. ?❤️

  11. Waaahhh i have always wished to “TRAVEL WITH MY HUSBAND” Elvis Marcaida Amatos III ???. . We have been together for 7years (as bf-gf) and 3years in marriage already. However, we haven’t been able to travel anywhere to chill and relax (funny though) even here in Philippines. We were too focused on our careers. And we may be together but most of the time we go on separate ways due to work. He is a police officer and I am a nurse(Sigh). Sometimes TIME is our enemy but we need to work for the money. I may work in a graveyard shift then he works on a daytime shift. Letting us meet minutes just to say hello and see you back home. And currently, he is now assigned in Sibonga, Cebu, a 3-hour bus ride from the city. Well, that makes us only meet ONCE A WEEK to NONE when we are too busy. Now, we are eager and planning to save for our FIRST TRIP for two but not in a cruise (just can’t afford that) we don’t have enough funds for it. We planned to travel first here in Cebu. Probably, around the month of September or October this year. Go on a road trip on his motorbike, packed bags, bring a tent and stop over in every city and towns in Cebu. (Actually it was my whole idea I only proposed this to him yet he is very supportive with it). I was hoping “THIS COULD HAPPEN” like “MAKING OUR FIRST TRIP POSSIBLE IN CEBU”. (Then slowly to a WORLD TOUR). ???

    1. Thank you Carla for joining in our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”. Your entry is now valid. Good luck! ????

  12. Dear Two Monkeys. I am Third, my partner is Jessie, and this is our love-travel story. We are a long-distance Filipino couple. I am a nurse in New York. Jessie is based in the Philippines. We met via a dating app three years ago. I was in the Philippines but scheduled to migrate to NY. We’d spend hours on the phone. Yet we didn’t meet as we acknowledge that there was no future to speak of. Long-distance relationships rarely work.

But we surprised ourselves. Months progressed and the bond deepened. We would have Skype dates. It’s very rare for a day to end without our Viber calls or Whatsapp chats. We share similar values though we are opposite in many ways. Happily, we both love to travel. But our relationship had its struggles. In early 2015, I went back home to the Philippines and surprised Jessie. From that first meeting, we took our relationships to a deeper level. A month ago, we went up to the Cordilleras. We scaled mountains and traversed rice terraces for a week. We are just so blessed to have each other. We both have a partner, best friend, and travel buddy rolled into one.

    1. Thank you Third for sending that wonderful story of love and for joining in our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage” ❤❤❤ We wish you both more fun travels in the future and good luck on the contest ☺☺

  13. I was sandboarding in the Sahara desert when we met. He was a tall and exotic looking Egyptian and I was a free spirited American. Just like the Two Monkeys, we both had action and adventure in common so in our hearts there couldn’t be boundries and so we set off. We scoped Egypt from Red sea to Mediterranean. We rented a car and explored Roman to Religious places in Jordan. Then we moved to conservative Saudi where we saw its history and tradition one region at a time, finding more than just sand. . We are always planning weekend getaways and vacation destinations. Many times our travel dreams are cut back by visa regulations. Its frustrating because we feel within our hearts we love the world but sometimes the world wont let us in. Our struggles to travel make it adventure and Im sure all we need is a new set of luggage to keep us moving. .

    1. Visa limitations are indeed heartbreaking at times..and we agree that these travel drawbacks pave way to some of the great adventures! ?? Thank you Amira for joining in our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”. We’re you able to comment on the FB status too? If not yet, please do so,,, comment your story and a photo to make this entry valid. Thanks!! ??

  14. Lee is British and I’m a Filipina. We met 2 years ago (Feb 2014) through BBM. It’s weird on how we got the PIN number of each other but I think that’s how destiny works. We’ve been communicating since then, until December 2015 when finally, we saw each other, hold hands and hug each other. It was an amazing December in UK. We spent most of the time going to park, forests, zoo, watching movies, trying PFC, laughing, playing mine craft and GTA 5. This will probably be our first memorable travel and best Christmas and New Year ever .. We’ve learned so much together and being in a relationship with him changed a big part of my life, my goals and ambitions. I was so frustrated of being better, being the best, I’m scared that people might not like me so I’ve been competitive. I feel like I’m not enough if I don’t do things well.. But when I met him, God made me realize that when it’s true love, there is a sacrifice that is worth everything you thought you couldn’t live without. All the agony, the longing, cold nights, alone dinner, crying to sleep, are nothing because He is worth the wait. I love him and he always tell me he loves me more and I’m blessed because of that. When it’s True Love, it’s unbreakable. 🙂
We plan to celebrate Christmas and New Year together again this year and we are both excited. We dream of traveling places and one day it will happen. 🙂
I’m not really good on writing so I’ll just keep it short and hopefully sweet

  17. I love your love story so inspiring.?

    here’s mine:

hi two monkeys travel,I am fran Filipino,i went to uk last 2010 for student visa and my husband name is rob he is British .we exchange messages in a dating site and
after how many month of exchanging messages we decided to meet up.we dine out in one of the restaurant near our place in stansted.my husband says it was love at first sight for him,I don’t really believe it when he says it but I also feel the same way, after 3 months of relationship he then proposed to me and asked me to be his wife, the proposal to me was simple and romantic ,the other day before he proposed to me we had and argument and after that argument I feel really sad and hurt so in my self I really decided to not talk to him or message him anymore.but then I receive a message from him that he likes to talk to me for the last time and ask if he could visit me in my flat so I said yes because I wanted to hear his explanations .so when he reach at my flat I saw him with a flower in his hand so I thought it was just a reconciliation gift but when I envited him to came in he then knell down and ask me if I will marry him ,I was shocked and so happy and finally said yes.then we get married after 2 months..our year marriage was full of contentment and happiness .but eventually last year on September our spouse visa was rejected due to the new financial law in England ,that my husband needs to earn a certain amount to support me in living there.the government left us with no choice but for me to go back to Philippines.on the day of my departure was the saddest part in our relationship because we don’t know when we will see each other again and in our heart we are not happy of what is happening ,we are to denial.then right now we are 7 months separated it was really hard for us due to time difference and the feeling of missing each other so much everyday.right now I just hope that time will come in the future things we’ll be okay and we will be together again..I just love him and miss him loads.but this challenges that we are facing right now will not break us as a husband and wife but to keep our relationship stronger with full of love and trust…?

    1. Thank you fran for sending your great story of love and for joining in our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage” ! Your entry is now valid ??? We wish you luck ??

  18. Chris and I met through a dating website in October 2010. Initially I didn’t take notice of him because he just sent a “smile” on my profile. But after unsuccessfully dating a few people, I decided to give him a chance. Soon after that, we exchanged a few emails and numbers but we were both not expecting anything. On the night of our first meeting, I was 30 minutes late but luckily he patiently waited for me. At a Japanese restaurant where we had dinner, he ate some sushi from my plate, and when his choice actually arrived, he was so embarrassed he grabbed a serviette or tissue and hid behind it then poked his head on the side. By then I was convinced he was really genuine and so comfortable with himself.

Few months later, he suggested if I can come to New Zealand and see if I would like living here. We were just a few months into the relationship but with my parents’ blessing I went on a flight via Singapore to Auckland. Fortunately I was stranded in Singapore for 5 days and it gave me a chance to explore the place and met a former classmate. Since then Chris and I travelled together within the North and South Islands of New Zealand, Fiji, and Hong Kong. We recently came back to Cebu where we met and got married at a beautiful location where years ago I was handpicked by TV hosts to do a makeover to help me be confident in loving myself and attracting a boyfriend. That’s our love story. xoxo

  19. It all started at an office with more than 500 employees on the production floor. We were colleagues who didn’t know each other, he was a supervisor and I was a new hire. One night, my Supervisor was out and he had to coach me. That “one coaching session” has now spun into 8 years. Since then we have traveled Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Not as many as you’d think but every place was memorable.

It wasn’t always bubbly and we always challenged each other but travelling had its ways and this became our escape. Travelling was our therapy. It taught us to trust one another, make difficult decisions together and have each other’s backs. From being stranded in Mt. Pulag for a week due to a signal #4 typhoon (with minor injuries) to almost sinking into the ocean from a cracked sit-in kayak in Marabut, Samar – we persevered, it gave us that rush.

We climbed mountains, conquered islands and crossed seas of the Philippine Islands. The last 2 years have been spent working and travelling through the streets of Singapore, visiting the Buddhist Temples of Sri Lanka, enjoying the exquisite atolls of Maldives and exploring the awesome Temples of Siem Reap. Now that we’re home and have more time in our hands, we’re again planning on our future travels.

This photo was taken in Thulusdhoo, Maldives last year to celebrate my 28th and our 7th year together. It was by far the most remarkable of our travels. Huge thanks to your blog for the Maldives itinerary and travel tips, they were very helpful and had recommended them to some friends as well whom had actually done the very same thing!

    Cheers to all travelling couples!
    D&G

  20. It’s been almost 3 years sInce I met Andre Harz, since I finally met my true love.Year 2013,both of us were invited to be a sponsor of our common friend’s daughter baptismal.Hi and Hello’s,shake hands, and short talks. We really had no idea that this wii be the beginning of our great love. After being officially couple,we decided to celebrate our love by travelling. We spent our first travel in Mindoro,Philippines, and rented a house near in White Beach in Puerto Galera.Walking and running beside the sea while waiting for the sunrise, sunset dinner, climbing mountains and seeking for beautiful waterfalls, motorbiking trip with friends, fishing and island hopping were just some of our unforgettable adventures.Aside from exploring the beauty of Mindoro,we also flew and went outside the country. Malaysia,Hong Kong,Macau,Denmark,Italy and Germany,my boyfriend’s country land. Both of us enjoyed and appreciated the speechless beauty of each country, ate all the must try foods, met other people and learned their cultures.Sum of all this travel that we’ve been through,we just realized how much we relished the company of each other. And most,we just realized how much we deeply, fell in love to each other.Last month,Andre had to leave and went back again to his country because of his job,and I had to go back in my family and help in the business. But we don’t care about the distance. between us for now, because we know in our heart,we are never been apart. We believed that in right time,we will be together always and will explore the world.By the way,did I tell you already that we have a 20 years age of gap?Well,we don’t care also!Age is just a number and LOVE is about US.
    Happy Couple,Indeed!

    Best Greetings,
    #GhenDreForever

  21. Our love story:
Way back November 2011, i left Philippines and moved to Seychelles (an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean off East Africa). I got a job at Hilton Seychelles northolme resort and spa as a waitress/bartender. It is almost a year in Seychelles when Jason (our hotel executive sous chef) did his moves. Well, he is kinda shy in person so he added me on Facebook and he only started to message me when he is back in the US for his vacation. Every day after my shift whenever I checked my phone I always saw his messages then we started chatting. He is a cool, smart, interesting, nice and funny guy when he is chatting so we continued. Days flies so fast and he needed to go back to Seychelles, I remembered before he left he asked me what do I like for present and all I asked is my favorite US snack “combos pizza favor’. A day just pass and Chef is back! I got a message saying where he can meet me to give his present? We met outside the team quarters canteen and I got a 2 huge bags of combos and that’s where we started. Our first travel together is Dubai, then after 3 years in Seychelles we decided to move to Thailand. Exploring places, experiencing the local culture, meeting new people, and of course our favorite try different foods is our best traveling memories together. So far we’ve been to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Dubai, Seychelles and USA and a lot more to come. Patience, kindness, contentment, love, honesty, courage, understanding is what we’ve learned while traveling.

    Valerie & Jason

  22. Hi monkeys! We are Flavia and Austin, from Italy and California. We met in New Zealand in 2013 just for few days..but it was enough! I had to fly to Australia and he changed his plans and came in Sydney too after 1 month. We had such an amazing time that even if I had to come back to Italy, and he went on travelling in Asia, 2 months later I found a 400€ bargain Milan-Bangkok and I reached him for 3 weeks, during which we experienced a not so fun DENGUE FEVER! Waited an other 8 months, and here he came, in Italy with 200$ around the world flight glitch! After a 2 months holiday in California with a 1month AMAZING car/camping trip,I tried to go to US enrolling in a college last year, but was denied the visa….so, after he came twice to visit me, we decided to get married! I will be flying to San Diego June 21st…2.5 years together, 23 months apart, if this is not love, what is? Can’t wait for the happy ending and….next trip will be South America on a motorcycle with sidecar!!!

    1. Thank you Flavia for joining in our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage” ! Really… love conquers all even the distance. We wish you both a happy and safe travels and Goodluck! ????

  23. Hi Two Monkeys ! I am Maya Karina Punzalan. I and my boyfriend are both Filipino. I can sharply remember how we first met. During my college days, I am very interested to join mountaineering club but then I was so busy and I decided when i’m finally in my junior year. So I signed up as an aspirant and Eldie, my boyfriend is already a member. Before you will become a full pledged member you need to do tasks given by member, not knowing he already had an eye on me ( ganda gandahan eh! ).
On our survival day, member brought us in one of majestic falls in our province, and then they initiate us with their tasks. Well he personally choose me, I am blinfolded, he brought me in a cliff and ask me ” Do you trust me ? Jump ” , I was so hesitant and afraid, but then he hold my hand and ask mr again. Then I JUMP ! later did i know the cliff is just knee high. So from then on, we become friends to lovers to travel buddy. We love to climb mountains, hike, waterfall canyoneering and camping. We also travel a lot despite our working schedule, we already visited almost all provinces here in Mindanao. We are already 4 years and counting and every anniversary we travel. We just came back from El Nido Such an amazing place ! We are also backpackers since we are not born with a silver spoon. We tried to sleep at the airport to save money for accomodation, in travelling you can see the worst and best together but the most important is memories spend with the love of your life is priceless !

    1. I had a good laugh on the knee high jump ?? Thank you Maya for joining in our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage” Happy travels to you guys and we wish you luck ??

  24. I think me and my wonderful husband Josh Johnson needs those! Lol I remember when it was time to leave Philippines and I had to take 4 luggages with me,they barely survive the 24 hours trip from Philippines to US? Anyway,we met 2 1/2 years ago overseas. It was really hard to not be like a normal couple when we started dating because we live in different country. It was a rocky-with-lava-road not being able to talk as much since Philippines have the worst internet signal and from him working full time. Not seeing each other for 3-5 months is not that long but for us who fights for our love always feels like it has been years. We are 3 months happily married now and with all the ups and downs we’ve been through especially on working my papers for my visa, sometimes we still can’t believe that we made it and we haven’t killed each other yet jk! I just want the whole world to know how much I love my sweet, caring, understanding and loving husband. We would be very happy to win the luggages so we can use it on our first anniversary or go to our dream places together,or wherever our love would take us.Keep inspiring people Two Monkey Travels! Godbless you always ❤️

    1. Sweet story Keith! Love really conquers all ❤❤ We’d like to thank you for joining the “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”! Goodluck!! ??

  25. The Happily Ever After Couple is Turknoy!

We met in Doha, Qatar where we were both working on a project. It was a whirl wind romance and then into meant-to-be-opportunities and then into marriage and then.. three kids and travel bugs for all. Our travel story officially started the day we decided to stop procreation and start world exploration instead. Turknoy Travels 100 travel goal was launched among our family members last 2013 which aims to travel with three kids together as family before they turn legal ages, when hopefully, old and able enough to travel for by themselves.

So far we travelled together to 12 countries, exploring several cities of each country. We aim to travel all continents together. Our most memorable experience so far is experiencing the Northern Lights in the Arctic three nights in a row. Very surreal for desert-dwellers like us.

Two important travel lessons we have learned so far. 1. Set specific travel goals. 2. Travel goals and travel lifestyles are personal. We don’t need to copy how most common people travel. We sometimes go cheap, we sometimes travel luxuriously. We get out of our day job to travel. Not quit it, but take a break from it. We sometimes travel short period. Sometimes long period. And it’s alright. The important thing is to choose travel as a lifestyle because that’s what happily ever after is after all… a lifestyle by choice.

    1. Travelling with the whole family, that indeed sounds lovely! ❤❤ Thank you for joining in our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”! We wish you luck! ☺☺

  26. Our love story starts way back in high school. We are classmates and dated for a very long time before getting married in 2013.

We can say that our everyday is an adventure!

In a relationship, it is not just the love for each other that matters most, it requires a lot of patience, understanding and courage, and also on top of that, God! because in Him flows everything. And of course, don’t forget to have fun!

We traveled recently in Singapore. There, we learn a lot about how it is to travel as a couple in a very diverse and simple way. Apart from exploring the place, the food and their history, we get a glimpse of how clean their city is and how disciplined the Singaporeans people are. Through this, we get to LOVE each other even more and discover that while on the road, it is a must to stay focus, take advantage of the natural beauty in everything that we see, enjoy each other’s company and seize every moment.

And lastly, we can say that travelling is also a total transformation for someone who look far beyond the impossible.

    1. Thank you Lotus for joining in the “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage” =) =) thank you for sending in your wonderful story.. Please add/comment your photo on the FB status page to make this entry valid. Thanks and good luck =) =)

  27. Daylene and I met on Instagram.Yes,you read it right,we met on IG. Who would’ve thought Daylene and I will be here right now sitting together in an overnight train going to Bangkok? Two years ago we didnt even know each other until Daylene liked a picture of me on Instagram and her feed caught my attention. We exchanged likes on each others pictures until I thought adding her on Facebook would possibly increase my chance to meet her personally. We’ve talked on FB almost everyday it was as if we’ve known each other for ages. The connection was so strong I told myself I have to see her for real.June 2015 ,I flew to Boracay to see her.Though she was with me physically, her heart wasn’t. She was in love with someone else,so I decided to go back to Germany. It was then she realised that she also likes me. I guess it’s really true ,you’ll never know what you have until you lose it. After 2 months I came back for her. She quit her job and left Boracay Island and we decided to travel the world together. We’ve been backpacking for 8 months and been to Europe and Asia doing volunteering jobs to save money. Our volunteering experience in a school in Nepal was the highlight of the trip. The children really touched our hearts and opened our eyes to a lot of realisations. And if there’s one thing that we’ve learnt in our travels,it is to be thankful for what we have.Though we can’t travel luxuriously at least we have each other ,seeing the world together.

    1. Wow! What a lovely story you got there Robin ❤❤ We wish you both luck and we want to thank you for joining in the “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage” =) =)

  28. One year ago I was lost. Not knowing what to do with my life, I took the risk of leaving everything behind to travel in search of answers.

During my first week, I met someone on Couch Surfing willing to show me around. When we met we were instant friends. After a month of building our friendship, we simply fell in love. After our first date, I called my parents and told them, “Mom, dad, I have found the one I have been searching for my whole life. Her name is Norah.”

From that moment we were bound together. When it came time for me to leave Vietnam, Norah came with me. During our travels we learned countless things from cultures to life philosophies. But the most important thing we learned is that true love does indeed exist in this world, and with it we can do anything together.

When this undeniable truth was right there in my face, I knew it was time. On Norah’s birthday, I proposed to her in front of the awe-striking mountains in Vang Vieng, and she tearfully said, “Yes.”

Thank you for marrying me Norah. You are my world. I love you 🙂

    1. That is one sweet story Jeremy ❤❤ Thank you for joining the “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”!! We wish you luck guys 🙂 🙂

  29. Greetings from The Kingdom of Cambodia!

Let me start with a quote from David N. “What we all want in life, to travel, fall in love and be happy”; this is our story:

Life will simply surprise you in the most unexpected way and it’s not just about getting a good education, a good job and be on the same routine for the rest of your life. Edmund and I believe that there’s more to that, so we decided to go on a beautiful journey together. Were it not for the social-networking sites, .we wouldn’t have met and be where we are right now. They say when you travel together that’s when you’ll know who you are for each other. We’ve been through a lot and many of our friends can attest to that. We travelled in the most parts of The Philippines and all other SEA countries but we just fell in love with Siem Reap, Cambodia. Not because of the magnificence of Angkor Wat but also the people we’ve met here. People are who genuine by heart . People who don’t look down on you because we’re Asians and a couple of the same gender–fellow travellers who just love us for who we are.

Every time we travel, we would take a sit somewhere and look at the local people passing by and travellers like us enjoying every bit of the beauty of the place and the moment. We would then take our moment together and reflect that we have so much to be thankful for. We might not have much but we’re happy. We just travel when we can and we make sure that we make the most of it. As they say, “You only live once!” At the moment, we’re saving up for our next trip all over South America. We just can’t imagine what awaits us there; nevertheless, we just couldn’t wait to get there.

    1. What a wonderful story, Rudy and Ed. Thank you for joining the “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”. Good luck to the both of you and we wish you a safe and happy journey on your future travels!! 🙂 🙂

  30. We are a Slovene couple based in Graz, Austria, but currently on a year-long trip around the world, which is actually our homeymoon. Or better said honey-year. Teachers by proffession, traveling junkies by belief and animal lovers by heart. We have been a couple for almost 13 years (yes, a looong time 🙂 ), and we always travelled with our backpacks – imagine how they look like. :/ We try to make the most of our time everywhere we go – so look out for a crazy couple running through cities, jumping into the blue and chasing sunsets.

    1. Hi Simona! A year of honeymoon?! That’s totally awesome!! We wish you guys a safe and fun journey all throughout your travels!❤❤ Also, please don’t forget to comment on our Facebook status to make this entry valid.. Goodluck!

  31. i couldn’t even explain to you how good it feels to share the story of our love. Fumi (My Japanese Bf) and I met on the same workplace. And for 2 years that his been working there i really didn’t notice him, It wasn’t a love at first sight. But we started like this..We became friends and the rest is history..When i was at my worst he saw me at my best
He picked me up and dusted me off, this is just like my relationship.
Saving me from a loveless and giving me the extra courage I needed to step away and move on to something greater/better 🙂 So grateful for this Man every day of my life ♡
This is how our story began and how it is all coming together. He introduced me to a world that has a lot to offer. We first went on a cruise in Mexico and we both loved it. The feeling of traveling and knowing that places could be so good to be true. Next he showed me how to ski, and swim(pero hanggang ngaun di pa rin marunong)haha.. We love doing Ziplines and a lot more adventures. Went to Cancun, Nevada, California, and Japan..And now, 3 years and counting and waiting to travel together just like you two MOnkeys???

  32. Sean and I met at the train station in King’s Cross London. That one time “quick coffee” is turning into 5 years of being together. We’ve been traveling since 2012 and he has visited my family in the Philippines a few times now. He was overwhelmed during his first visit ’cause he didn’t expect to meet the whole clan! ? In 2014, this crazy, handsome English man gave me a wedding proposal. Although everything in my life wasn’t stable, there was only one thing I’m sure about-I’m ready to follow this man anywhere in the world. And so we got married!

Having visited 12 countries together, it wasn’t all smooth rides yet undoubtedly fulfilling adventures and all of them were great fun! From the beautiful beaches of the Philippines to the exhilarating jungle trek in Malaysia to the bear sanctuary in the mountains of Vietnam; the temples, enchanting waterfalls and hidden caves of Thailand; towers of Hongkong; the ruins of Pompeii; the beauty of Rome; our amazing road trip in the US and of course, our honeymoon in Japan!
Along the way, I’ve learnt that traveling does not require anybody to be rich. All you need is a strong sense of adventure, guts to ride those dangerous motorbikes, stomach to eat anything and a life-time travel buddy.

At the moment, we are getting ready for our next adventure this year: skydiving in Dubai for Sean’s 30th birthday and traveling to Africa for my 30th. We dream of going to Jordan to visit Petra, too!

    Happy travels,
    Kristine & Sean Mitchell

  35. YOU’LL ALWAYS FIND YOUR WAY

One day, my boyfriend and I went together with two of our friends to go mountain trekking. It was our first time to trek and guess what? We went to the site with no trekking guide or a map but our bottles of water and our spirits in excitement.

Yes, you guessed it right! We got lost. We were crawling already to climb up hoping to find a flat plane. One wrong move and we could have been rolling down to the foot of the mountain. Luckily, one local might have noticed the rolling stones from uphill and shouted at us that we were going in the wrong direction. So we climbed down and asked for a few instructions from the local. And oh, my knees and lips were bleeding already due to crawling uphill. As we talked with the local, one mountaineer just came from the peak of the mountain. As he listened to our conversation, he offered to take us there as the mountain was his training ground. It was a long 5-6 hr trek. It was crazy for first timers! But just in time for sunset, we reached the peak of the mountain. Perfect to end the day!

I learned that in your climb, you can always count on to the people in your life. In my case, my boyfriend and our friends. We were at the point of giving up and wanted to go back our way but as we looked back, we’ve come too far already. And that, life works that way sometimes. Life sometimes tells us to go nowhere but up! Lastly, to enjoy the view with the love of your life when you’ve reached the peak of success!

My boyfriend and I just recently graduated college and are ready to take on the world!

  37. Hello Lovely Monkeys! 🙂
My hubby Cocoy Gito has always been a city boy.. I was a trainer and he was my trainee, 8 years ago.
He obviously did well in my training class so he passed… But, when he became part of my nesting team and started calling authors, he came to work tipsy, wearing sunglasses on a night shift and barely calling customers. I hated him so bad, but, he was actually a sweet, passionate and almost naive city boy!
So our relationship for 4 years was a secret in the office! 🙂 I brought him to local places in the Philippines…all of which his first time visit! His first real waterfalls adventure made him so excited that I saw in him a little boy, jumping for the first time seeing magic! Brough him to his first tarsier (was still allowed that year) and chocolate hills trip, first white sand, first taste of the sea urchin that I caught myself using my flip flops…Special? Yes! indeed…We travelled together for 8 years now including 1 out of country with now our 1st son… This made me realize even more that travelling is not about where you go, but whom you share the passion and adventure with!

    1. Hi Iris! Thank you for joining our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage” and for sharing your wonderful story ❤❤❤ Good luck!

  38. Let me take you about more than a decade ago…

21Sept2003, when I called her mine. High school students, the age of exploration; the age when we realized that the two of us will jive as one. Phone calls, SMS, even letters are our means of communication; our families even hinder our relationship. But we grew stronger, we learned that love and not gender matters most. We taught each other how to conquer our fear (heights, being left alone, being a stranger, and leaving your comfort zone). We’ve done adventures, from extreme to relaxed:
    – riding and walking on the 38th floor of a hotel in Cebu
    – trekking the village of Buscalan to get our first tattoo from a traditional method called “pagbabatok”
    – had our childhood memories in Hello Kitty Town in Malaysia and Universal Studios in Singapore
    – witnessed some wonders of nature & city: Banaue Rice Terraces, Underground River, Old city of Vigan
Next stop Indochina tour this coming 3rd quarter of 2016.

Now on our coming 14th year (and counting) of love, adventure, and PRIDE we promise ourselves that we will never be apart again; list more travel goals and do it together.❤️????

    1. Thank you Aya for sharing your lovely story and for joining our “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”” Good luck guys! ❤❤❤

  39. Hi Two Monkeys Travel, my name is Angelica Garcia. I’m a pure Filipino and my boyfriend is Daniel Hume,he is British. 🙂 Dan and I met in Bohol at Metrocenter Tagbilaran last August 14, 2014. We talked a lot until 4 in the morning and i showed him the “Balut” how to eat it! He do love it! Now everytime he came here in the Philippines we never failed to buy Balut and eat it together after we had dinner in our traditional restaurant in Metrowalk here in Manila where I am working. The first time we met it was really unexpected. I was assigned there for work and he is on vacation for a week. It was his first time in the Philippines. I really don’t wan’t to be assigned to work in Bohol because of some personal reason but the destiny really have plan for us! We met and that is the start of our relationship. We’ve been traveling the Philippines together from Zambales (my hometown), Ilocos Norte, Palawan, Angono Rizal, Manila (we did some tour) Candelaria, Zambales, Baguio, Tagaytay, Mindoro and England! The most unforgettable travel we ever made together is when i went in England to meet his family, celebrate my first out of the country Christmas and New year with him 🙂 Also where he showed me the place where he grew up. It really made me feel more attached to him. In travelling together we had a chance to know more each other. He is the half of me and he completed me when he came into my life. The biggest challenge we are facing is the distance since we met. But we are both trying our best to work everything out. Soon distance won’t be matter anymore after 1 year and 6 months of being together 🙂 Here is the picture in one of our trip in Palawan where we hike and cross the rivers for 3 hours to reach the Batak Tribe 🙂 Soon enough we will start to travel the world together :* Salamat po xx

  40. Hi Two Monkeys Travel (Jonathan and Kach)
I (Cherry) and my boyfriend Jonathan have been dating for 3 years and 5 months now. We met at a friend’s birthday back in 2012. Apparently, we graduated from the same school in high school, The Sisters of Mary School. The school had one campus for boys and another one for girls. We haven’t met during our high school days because the right time for us to meet is when we were ready for each other. (Kilig!) I noticed him during our first meeting because he was an introvert (I’m into mysteries!) Then one of my friends called him “sir”. That’s when I learned he was a teacher then. I had just passed my board exams for Chemical Engineering during that year and just started working as a technical engineer in a local petroleum company, so him being a male teacher did not turn me on. Maybe because I cannot find a topic to discuss with him. I then turned to my seafarers friends and talked a little about engineering, lubrication, engines and traveling the world. In short, we( I and Jonathan) never talked at all at our first meeting. After a week or two we started exchanging Facebook messages then decided we should meet and then we just became interested in each other and agreed to be in a romantic relationship. Our interest in each other turned to LOVE over the years. Ours was not “a love at firs sight” it was “developed” through our experiences together and that includes traveling. Our most memorable travel was our escapade in Cagayan de Oro. It was a D.I.Y. trip. I usually do the research and suggest what to do, Jonathan just agree to what I say. We went river rafting at Cagayan de Oro, we joined a group of 4 in order for us to get a reduced price for the ride. We enjoyed it so much because we are both for extreme activities, we like to be wet,we like the mud and the excitement. Surpassing the challenges in the adventure with each other is “happy’ness”. What we learned in all our trips is to trust each other, for me not to be agitated for unforseen circumstances and for him to help me with preparing for the trip. We should complement each other and understand that we can be at times silly but our love will still remain strong. We believe that “forever” means not giving up on each other! ?

    1. Hi Cherry! Thank you for sharing your love story and for joining the ““Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”. Good luck! ❤❤❤

  41. MrIbiza Kalawsky and i were schoolmates in elementary. We reconnected on facebook in 2010. I went home from japan for a month vacation after the march 2011 earthquake/tsunami. He and i became a couple days after my arrival. Then LDR for the next 7 months. I went home for good and also started applying for my dream job as a cabin crew. I was blessed and left for the middle east in June 2012. Alhamdulillah, my job pays me to see the world. I don’t want to sound ungrateful, but all the places i go to would really have been better if he was with me. I’ve always sent him post ards of all my destinations and tell him exactly that. Thankfully, i can go home regularly. And when i do, we try to travel and explore my beloved Philippines. He loves comfort while im the cowboy one. Im trying to infect him. We both love and recommend The beaches in the Philippines. This picture was taken in Anguib beach in Palaui Island. Oooh the struggle just to get to see that beauty almost took a toll on our relationship. Truly, traveling strengthens and tests your bond as a couple.?

    1. thank you Joanna for joining the “Traveling Couple’s Giveaway Contest with TravelPro Luggage”! Good luck guys ❤❤❤

  42. Kamusta Kach and Johnathon
Salamat once again for the inspiring tales and pictures of your travels.
You have kept me enthralled and motivated for the last year struggling to get back to my love Genalyn Balansag in the Philippines. Your stories have helped to keep our love and dreams alive and have given me confidence to leap out of the comfort zone I considered New Zealand. I finally got the courage together to walk away from the job I loved….and all else that was delaying my return to Phillipines. With limited funds and only a small backpack (that somehow gets ever fuller) I trusted to the Universe to guide my travels and simply got on a plane to Thailand then onward after one week in Phuket to Iloilo Phillipines where the woman I fell in love with lives with her daughter Elaine and family.
After one month we left to explore Thailand, celebrate Genalyns Birthday and her first passport stamp, as well as renew my visa for Philippines.
We then spent some time in Manila applying for her New Zealand visa before catching a boat to Dumaguete the city where we met and fell in love last year. Currently we are staying with family and friends on Negros Island. From here we will make our way back to Antique to collect Gens passport and pack our bag for New Zealand where I can introduce her to my Family and show her my country.
The visa has been granted for two months only so where our Journey will lead after NZ is still to be decided….but further travel is certain and we both look forward to this with great excitement

We both wish you well on your Journey and everyday look forward to reading your Facebook posts for your adventures always captivate us
    Salamat
    Ryan & Genalyn

    1. Om and love to you Ryan & Genalyn ❤❤❤ We wish you both a happy journey. 🙂 and thank you for sending your wonderful story! ❤❤❤

  43. Hi, Two Monkeys Travel. I am Dianne Joie, former Mayores but now a Dupaya. My husband’s name is Oliver Gumaru Dupaya. He’s a Filipino citizen living in Canada, while I live here in the Philippines. We met each other in a peculiar way. Guess how? Through the online game Clash of Clans!!! We were rivals at first, who became clanmates, and eventually became husband and wife. You know the typical eyeball people do? We had that when Oliver had a vacation here last 2014. It was instant, like there’s an energy drawing us to each other. We officially became a couple and just last January 16, 2016, Oliver and I tied the knot. Our week-long honeymoon in Cebu was our first trip together. We did stuff like kayaking, snorkeling, swimming with the gentle giants in Oslob and more. Then and there, we discovered that one of our bucket list as a couple is to travel to places, experience other’s culture and make unforgettable memories together. I think the most challenging part in our relationship is when he had to go back to Canada, but we hope that soon enough, the two of us will be together, visiting places and making our dreams come to life. Just like the two of you, we’re two kindred spirits wishing to live, love and travel.

  44. My name is Diane and my fiances name is Jaymie. I live in the Philippines and he lives in Australia. He visited me on January and we spent a month travelling around mindanao. He thought it would be scary at first but I told him he’d be safe because I would make sure of it. After the month was over he had to go back to Australia but visited me again the on March so we went Island hopping in Surigao. We went as far as our feet could take us. Swam at beautiful rivers (mind you I was wearing a lifejacket since I cant swim but that didn’t stop me from enjoying what mother nature has to offer). A week after our Island hopping, he proposed and of course I said yes. He surprised me and my friends were in it too.. banners and balloons and all that jazz. Once I get my visa we hope to travel the world together because we’re both free spirits that like exploring places. We have so much to look forward to. I hope we can win the Crew 10 21 ” hardside spinners luggage,we will definitely need it in our future travels.

  45. Dear Two Monkeys Travel…
Our story began as we met in the year 1993 in the company where we first work together…time flies and the love that we had for each other bind us in church in the year 1995….then the Good Lord blessed us with child one at a time till it become 5 in number…yes…we have 5 beautiful daughters…the eldest is 19 while the youngest is 11…since the time we met we travel only during summer for company outing…. A priviledged for working people….and during holidays when we went home to my husband hometown to spend the days with his relatives..other than that no more.
Since we have a big family we are left with no options but to save financially for our family’s needs. Though we are both working (me as a public school teacher and him as a serviceman) we hardly meet ends with daily expenses. But the Lord is so generous that He sent extra means that we are now enjoying for pleasure. Life begins at forty…and I’m glad to be in…enjoying travel days away from home. Our first family travel was in La Union Philippines in 2013…in Baguio City in 2014….in Ilocos in December 2015…During those travels we had to pack our things in different backpacks since no luggage is available even till this time. If given a chance to win your promo it would be of great help as we plan to explore other part of our country as family and hopefully the other country with my co-teachers. The family that travel together stays stronger…happily long after…so as with you guys Jon and Kach…May the Good Lord bless you in your future journey together and may He protect you from harm…the couple that travel together experience forever with God at the center.

  46. Hi TwoMonkeysTravel,
Peter and I met on online dating site. Im a ladyboy and working as quality analyst in a call center. While him , running a small sports store in Austria. After few mos changing mails, chatting and txting ,he decided to come and visit me. Your blog helps me to find the best destination here in the Philippines. Last March 31 we went to Cebu, we tried the canyoneering, whale watching, ride on a motorcycle and find other places nearby such as Tumalog falls, Kawasan falls. We also went to Bohol and stayed a bit longer at Alona Beach. Ride again on a motorcycle and witness the beauty of chocolate hills, loboc river, meeting tarsiers and did zipline. We also went to El Nido, palawan. The place was incredible. We took Tour A and Tour C package. Few days remaining the underground river. Im not a traveler and I dont really have any idea what should I bring what kind of bag etc, but seeing those incredible places is really heart warming and appreciate the nature. Our age gap is nearly 10yrs, but it doesnt matter bec I know he is the right person I am looking for. Its pretty challenging for me specially when people looking at us while showing how we love each other, and at the back of thier mind I know what they are thinking. But who cares, in nearly 3 weeks weve been together, we enjoyed the travel. Hopefully before wnd of this year Ill can visit him.
    Best and Regards,
    Jacke

  47. Out of college and the world at my feet, I wasnt ready to settled down and get a responsable job just yet. So I joined the Peace Corps and moved Paraguay.
Edward, fresh out of college took a scholarship and traveled and studies in several countries in Europe for a year.
I was living in his hometown. So when he got back from his travels he wanted to continue ¨practicing¨ his English with me. So we got to know each other wwhile he taught me Guarnai (the native language here in Paraguay) and me helping him with his English.
While not traveling profesionally yet we still do get to travel some each year.
We are both ocean people so that is where we mostly spend our vacations, different beaches in Brazil or in the States. Also, we visit my family every other year in the states and do a big vacation together (cruise, rent a house on the beach).
Once while in San Diego, California we decided to tour the city. After a long day we were ready to get back on the bus and get back to the hotel for a shower and a nice dinner. Expect, we were standing on the wrong side of the street (who new that would be such a big deal). Well, we ended up in Mexico. Not the evening we had planned.
One of our favorite trips was the Disney Cruise. My brother and his family and my sister and her family joined us, so it was really great seeing the 7 cousins getting time to be together. Also, having so many age groups a cruise is perfect for a large group, something for everyone.
This year my husband will be going to New York and Washington DC while I will go with my daughter to Machu Picchu, sadly seperate because of our jobs.
Next year we have planned a Buenas Aires trip and for our 25th anniversary a big trip to Isreal.
Our plans are to travel the world mainly after retirement, but as the opertunites arrive we will travel.
21 years later I am still in Paraguay, Who would of imaged that?
    Live your Dream,
    Monicca

  48. Hey John and Kach!

I’m so excited for your wedding/s and a huge congratulations!

    Here is my entry:

Sam and I met 4 years ago in a nightclub in Adelaide, Australia. We hit it off and he told me he was leaving in a few months to live in Europe for 2 years on a working VISA. It was crushing and he didn’t want to leave anymore having had met me. He plucked up the courage and asked me to be his girlfriend; it was an easy question to answer. His 2 year trip turned into a 6 month visit. While he was away our relationship was based on late night/early morning Skype dates. This lasted 6 weeks until he booked his ticket home. When I picked him up from international arrivals he said “Seeing all of those beautiful sights was meaningless without you. We’re going to travel together one day!” and now we are currently over 3 months into our world trip where we have sold everything we own and quit our jobs. We couldn’t be happier with our life changing decision 🙂 current location is Japan!

  49. Hi Two Monkeys Travel, my name is Nelia Monet, I’m mixed Filipino-Angolan and my boyfriend is Jez Scott an Australian.

Jez and I met on a boat cruise in Mactan, Cebu back in February 24, 2013 and we have been traveling together ever since. We’ve traveled to a lot of different places around the Philippines – to the nearby islands in Cebu, Camotes, Moalboal, Oslob, Alonguinsan (to name a few) to other places like Boracay, Sagada, La Union, Hundred Islands (Alaminos), and Apo Island.

Our most memorable travel story was when we visited the humble Apo Island during our first anniversary in 2014. We swam with the gorgeous sea turtles, marvelled at the coral formations and colorful fish and plants and hiked to the other side of the island to find a turtle nesting pond. Our accommodation was very basic and the power would go off every night (entire island).

When the power would go off, Jez and I would think of fun things to do – play cards, play the guitar, dance in the dark, and have long conversations about anything – that’s when I realised that with him, I’d never run out of things to do or talk about. heart emoticon

Our major challenge right now is distance. We have been physically together for 2 years in the Philippines (2013 – 2015) but now Jez is back in Australia to work and I’m in the Philippines – working as well.

And I do hope we get a chance to see each other soon! More power to us traveling couples ?
