10 Reasons to Take a European River Cruise @VantageTravel

By Kach Umandap February 10th, 2017 Posted in Cruising, Europe Travel Blog, Travel Blog 22 Comments

There are so many ways to travel around Europe and no doubt you’ve tried some of them already. You can take cheap flights, take the trains or even hire your own car. There are some who would even cross oceans, but there’s another way you can tour around Europe, which is far more relaxing and perhaps even more immersive than all of the others.

Why not go on a RIVER CRUISE instead? It is actually a great way to travel, most especially if you are going to travel around Europe for the first time. I’m sure Jonathan would love to take a river cruise with me this year. After all, he LOVES sailing. Thinking about it, we should have done this for our honeymoon, right? Well, it’s never too late, and we will definitely check it out once we are back in Europe.

We highly recommend this European River Cruising from Vantage Travel. It’s all about convenience and experience!

Apart from Jonathan’s obvious passion for travelling on the water, there are still more reasons why we would personally take a European river cruise soon. Here are just 10, but I’m sure you’ll be able to add plenty more in the comments!

1. All you have to do is pack your bags

When you book a European river cruise, you can also ask the company to arrange your airfare. All you need to do is just choose the most convenient dates, pack your bags and look forward to a brand new adventure. With Vantage Travel, there’s even a service from the airport to the ship that will make your experience seamless.

2. You get to see multiple destinations

What I love about river cruising or any cruising for that matter is that you can see different places in one journey. It is so convenient because you can spare yourself from jumping on and off trains, or you don’t have to get yourself stuck in traffic jams while on the road. Believe me; those can put a real dampener on your trip!

3. It’s also solo traveler and young couples friendly!

Originally, the market for river cruises were for those who were retired or shall I say, the seasoned ones. But perhaps the good reviews and the amazing services of river cruises, especially the one from Vantage Travel, has also made them popular among families, young couples, and even solo travelers. It’s clean fun at its finest. Speaking of solo-travelers, here are some free travel tips for women.

4. You enjoy the time in the ship

I know a lot of travelers dread the long rides that come with travel, be it the long haul flights or train and car rides. It’s because you can’t do so much while on the road; your car is too small, your seat is too limited, or at times you feel that you have wasted a lot of time.  Thus, you get tired upon reaching your destination. That’s something you can avoid when you join a river cruise. The time on the waters can be as fun as the time that you enjoy your ‘land’ adventures.

5. You don’t have to worry about your itinerary

Again, they can do all that for you. It’s safe to say that these river cruises are like your one stop shop where you can get everything you need, there are so many places and things to choose from while on a river cruise. In fact, you can check Vantage Travel’s website which is very easy to navigate. From there, get to know more about their packages and choose a river cruise that takes you to the places that you’ve always dreamed of!

6. You get great value for money

It’s not just about the ship, the food, and the facilities that make your river cruise a great experience, it’s actually so much more than that. For instance, the activities are well-thought out and can be adjusted to your preference. They make it a point that your ‘wants and needs’ will be considered, so you get to embrace European culture the way you really want to. You can even go exploring on a bike if you want to!

7. You meet new friends

Especially with Vantage travel, it is so easy to make new friends on a European river cruise. You don’t feel pressured in any way, but because they create this very relaxed vibe and atmosphere while cruising, everyone is all smiles. That makes it easier to approach a stranger and turn them into a cruising friend. I love this because as you may have already noticed, I love making new friends when traveling.

8. You don’t feel ‘crowded.’

While I also love larger cruises, I sometimes feel that they get too crowded. I mean, you are with thousands of passengers in there so that’s a pretty normal feeling. The good thing about that is you can meet a lot of people. The downside though is that it’s hard to spend quality time with them. That’s different with river cruises because you will be sharing the experiences with more or less 150 other passengers. It’s even more relaxing.

9. You are saving costs

You might think that a European River Cruise is more expensive than doing a DIY adventure in Europe. While that may be true in some sense, but you have to see the bigger picture. When you go on a river cruise, it includes your accommodation and at times, your meals. Hotels in Europe can get pretty pricey, so the costs quickly add up. By joining this cruise, you take away that stress of thinking where to go and where to stay.

10. You get to see Europe from a different perspective

And lastly, joining a European river cruise will allow you to see a different side of Europe. Going down the ports is not as stressful as battling your way through airports and train stations. You get to enjoy Europe in the most relaxing way when you go on a river cruise. Also, because most cities in Europe relied on their waterways for trade and industry, much of the historical and cultural centers and located near the riversides.

  1. Are there accommodations for handicap persons in wheelchairs? We have cruised before and would like to take a river cruise.

  2. One good thing about cruises is the travel itself is entertaining and more relaxing compare with car or air travel where your movement and personal space is limited.

    1. Hi AskSonnie, yes, that’s true. There’s a lot of activities you can do while on board, and you also have your own cabin where you can have your own time and just relax while enjoying the scenery outside (Yes! they offer rooms with balcony!) so hope you can also join the European River cruise experience of Vantage Travel 🙂

  3. I’ve always dreamt of going on a Cruise! Your article made me think of going, really. See, I have this fear of going on boatrides, let alone, going on in it for an extended time. I hope I can overcome my fear and go on a cruise too, and see the different places in different perspective.

    1. Hi there Chessica, I’m sure you’ll love it there. You’ll meet new people and do some fun activities with them that you’ll forget that you’re on a ship 🙂 Vantage Travel also arranges different itineraries for every destination so that you can explore more and enjoy your European River cruise.

  4. Awesome!!! I kinda never considered seeing Europe by water!!! Always took trains or flights or buses!!! I’ve been on Thames up and down a few times in London. In London travelling in Thames is more like bus travel! Lolz… May be next time when I head to Europe, I’ll consider this option. Thanks for the in detailed post!

    1. Yes Bhushavali! You’ll really love it. You can save yourself from the exhaustion of train transport and just enjoy the scenery of different places you wish to visit. I really hope you can join us next time on our European River cruise and don’t forget to check the different itineraries of Vantage Travel for your river cruise experience 🙂

  5. This is a good thing! But the thing is, I haven’t even set a foot on Europe soil yet! I have heard nothing but great stuff about Europe, from its romantic places, beautiful nature, and historic architectures, I think everything that I want to see can be found there! I just hope one day I’ll be able to visit, and I would surely remember this post of yours.

    1. Why not Jill? I’m sure one day you can also travel and see the majestic beauty of European countries and when that time comes, the perfect way to explore is by river cruise ?

  6. I’ve experienced just the canal tour in Copenhagen so I am super excited for our trip to Prague in summer as we plan to try the Vltava River Cruise. I’m seriously looking forward to it so I can see Prague in a different perspective. It will be a wonderful way to appreciate the beauty of a city while sitting or standing still – so different from the hurried walking from point A to point B. When we went on a short cruise from Denmark to Sweden last year, we met American travelers and we saw each other again in a bookstore in Copenhagen and they still recognized me. So yes, cruising is a great way to meet new friends.

    1. Wow that’s great KT! and yes, I agree with you on that. It’s kinda tiring doing city tours, that’s why I’m really glad that they have these river cruises nowadays to save us from all the exhaustion!

  7. Good points you have here! My husband and I are avid cruisers, but are yet to try a river cruise.

We’ve looked at possibilities of experiencing one, but it is quite costly honestly. Even if we factor in savings on food and accommodation, it still is quite steep, cost-wise.

Well, will join your contest, and we hope for luck to be on our side! 😀

    1. Yes, it’s expensive than some of the cruises out there but Vantage will prove it to you that it’s way more worth it than it costs. 🙂 We will be praying for you both that you’ll win the contest. and thank you for joining 🙂

  8. Well, taking a cruise seems to take away stress and lets you breathe. It would also give you ample time to think about things or get creative. Ideas will surely go your way when you see something new and refreshing. If only rivers in the Philippines can handle things like that. Here, I really feel you got to pay a huge amount in order to take one trip.

    1. Oh Maria, how I wish that there’s a river cruise in the Ph too! and yes it’s a little bit pricey but its definitely worth it and less hassle too! Imagine how much relaxation you can do while traveling at the same time 🙂

  9. Hey looking at the photos and reading the benefits of river cruises, I have to agree with you. What ticked in my brain is seeing Europe from a different perspective. If time and money is not an issue, going by the typical itinerary and then adding cruises could be a lot of fun, even in same destinations, the view and experience would be different.

  10. I was actually just talking to a friend of mine (who is French) about European river cruises. She said that the Danube is the best river in Europe for cruising. I see from their website that Vantage does have Danube River cruises so that is what I would be interested in. I just got back from a Caribbean cruise which was super fun but HUGE. So I wouldn’t mind trying something smaller for sure!

    1. Yay! That’s great Stella, I’m absolutely sure that you’ll love the European Cruise of Vantage Travel 🙂 Happy trip 🙂

  11. This sounds like an excellent idea. I want to try out as many forms of traveling as possible. And I definitely want to do this as well. I love that you visit multiple destinations. Would be nice to spend time on the ship as well. Must be so much fun! Good to know that isn’t very expensive. I did always think that.

    1. That’s right Carola 🙂 I hope you can try the European river cruise of Vantage Travel, it’s one of the best!
