Luxury Hotel Review: Hotel Giraffe in Park Avenue South, New York @HotelGiraffe

Did you know that Hotel Giraffe’s Penthouse Room 1202 was transformed into Mr. Big’s Apartment during the 1st Sex and the City Movie? Well, I personally stayed beside it in the equally awesome Room 1203, a beautiful King room with a balcony!

This lovely boutique hotel is perfectly located in the NoMad (NOrth of MADison Square Park) neighborhood of Manhattan. The hotel aspires to be a modern oasis in the heart of the urban jungle. The Hotel Giraffe displays a beautiful elegance and modern style while showing the kindness of nature in an urban setting.

INTRODUCTION

What a great place to spend my first 2 nights in New York! The location, service and amenities among many other features were all outstanding.

After a long journey from Colombia, I finally arrived at 8:00 AM at the Hotel Giraffe! I knew I wouldn’t have the chance to relax as I had to go straight to the Jacob Javitz center for the NY Times Travel Show event; however, the receptionist was so nice letting me check in early! This hotel is known particularly for its exceptional customer service and I experienced this from the moment I arrived.

ACCOMMODATION

My room was on the 12th floor (the highest!) and the balcony view was incredible although these can also be enjoyed on the lower floors if you have an aversion to heights but you may hear a little more road noise. All varieties of room offer the best level of comfort and convenience with huge pillows, complimentary coffee machines, featherbed mattress toppers & memory foam pillows on request as well as water and wine in your room on arrival.

TIPS

Look for a higher floor room to lessen the inevitable noise of the streets below (earplugs also available if still noisy), and of course don’t miss the wine and cheese night from 5PM to 8PM! Also if it’s your first time in New York, feel free to ask the reception to give you the Downtown Manhattan map; they are more than willing to give advice on using the subway! Families may appreciate the added bonus of the spacious rooftop balcony.

The continental breakfast offers a great selection as is the case in all the hotels of the Library Collection. I particularly enjoyed the fresh and tasty baguette which is great partnered with hot chocolate and cream cheese! There is also a restaurant with an equally delicious selection for lunch and dinner.

PEOPLE

I cannot commend the hospitality of their team enough! You will notice this immediately upon meeting Jose the bell boy who is always happy to casually talk about the area; to JR in the Reception who taught me how to get around using the subway and lastly Gabriela, the lady in charge of breakfast and the wine & cheese later at night! If you decide to visit, please say hello from us! These guys are awesome!
