MACAU TOP TRAVEL TIP –

Many travelers require a visa to travel to Hong Kong and Macau. Make sure that you check your visa requirements before you travel. If you need help with a visa application and return flight reservations, you can apply for Kach’s Travel and Visa Coaching Services and Rent-a-Flight Service.

DAY 1

From the airport exchange HKD already because you’ll need it for transportation and dinner. You might need to check whether your hotel caters a free shuttle bus to KOWLOON Station.

OPTION 1:

Trains are still available until 9 PM if I’m not mistaken. Take the Airport Express train to KOWLOON STATION, and from there you can get a free shuttle bus to your hotel in Kowloon.

OPTION 2:

Other option if you want to avoid the hassle and if you are traveling in groups of 4-5 better take the taxi. There’s a queue for taxi make sure to ride the right taxi – KOWLOON area.

Check out some of the cool and cheap tours you could do in Kowloon.

CHECK – IN

Check in the hotel and don’t forget to ask for the Wi-Fi code!

Relax for a few minutes and go out for dinner. I suggest taking a map with you all the time. Ask the concierge for directions to the nearest area you can visit within your location.

For dinner, I would suggest that you explore restaurants near the area. There are mostly restaurants located at the left and right of your hotel when you go out. They serve good meals and cheap meals too! Be careful! Do not drink the tea they serve; it is unhygienic how they serve it. You can probably observe it. J

If you arrive late in Hong Kong, better to do this night is to check the whole itinerary! Locate places or markets near the area try to ask the help of the concierge to map it out for you or pinpoint the directions. It’d be easier if they drew on the map. Ask for the nearest MRT station for your locations the next days like Ocean Adventure, Disneyland and Tsim Sha Tsui.

Check out some of the cool and cheap tours you could do in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Note: You can check Ladies’ Market on the first night. But don’t waste too much money buying stuff. You may not have enough time for shopping the next few days

DAY 2

MORNING CALL

Breakfast. There are lots of restaurants when you walk along the street near your hotel. Take a light breakfast for the day. If you see some bakery store along the way, try to buy some bread that you can take with you in case you are hungry during the whole trip.

OCEAN PARK

This is where you use your map guide given to you by the concierge.

You can take EAST RAIL LINE – Mong Kok East Station going to Hung Hom Station. Cross Harbour Tunnel and go out the Aberdeen Tunnel Exit. Walk around 5 – 10 minutes to Ocean Park or after you exit the tunnel take the taxi to Ocean Park.

Check out some of the cool and cheap tours you could do in Ocean Park Hong Kong.

HONG KONG OCEAN PARK – 10:30-19:00H

HKD 320 – Adult

HKD 160 – Kids 3-11 y/o

Check the show schedules so the kids and kids at heart can enjoy 🙂

Red Panda Feeding, Penguin Feeding, Sea Dreams and Skyfair Celebrations

Note: If you still have energy you can leave the park around 5 PM. For faster way take a taxi going to Avenue of the Stars.  Or take the trail – Aberdeen Tunnel – Hung Hom Station to East Tsim Sha Tsui; walk around 8 minutes to reach the Avenue of the stars. You can have dinner in nearby restaurants here as well. DON’T FORGET TO WATCH THE SYMPHONY OF LIGHTS IN THE AVENUE OF THE STARS! IT’S AMAZING. The show usually starts at 8 PM. For sure everyone will enjoy it!

DAY 3

DISNEYLAND

Have a breakfast along the area!

Take bread with you but not too much for it may be questioned.

Take MRT – Kowloon Station to Sunny Bay Station – Exit and take the Disneyland Resort Station

  • Take note when you buy MRT tickets here make sure to press until Disneyland Station not only to Sunny Bay.

Check out some of the cool and cheap tours you could do in Hong Kong Disneyland.

Best option if a group of 4 – take taxi.

Select a good ticket booth or the ones that run the most number of trips. Buy a roundtrip ticket probably go back around 8 PM. Have breakfast in the area while waiting for boarding.  Again, buy bread and drinks. ?

  • Make sure you have a disembarkation card and embarkation upon departure as well. It is a new country, so passports will be stamped or nowadays they give a ticket, try to staple these tickets to your passport as proof you traveled. They don’t stamp your passports now.

Note: Get a local guide – local means Kabayan! They could offer you as much as 500HKD for a day trip to accompany you but haggle, start from 300HKD until 400HKD. Let’s just say, you enjoyed your trip to Macau at the same time helped our fellow kababayans with their side-lines. You guys will be taking the hotel buses. Mostly, hop on hop off tours and some sites as well.

Before you agree to the tour give this spots that you’d like to visit:

  • Ruins of St. Paul – before you reach this place you’ll be passing by markets of street food! Get some free taste especially their good beef ? Buy some for pasalubong ?
  • City of Dreams

Dragon’s Treasure MOP50 (adult) MOP25 (child)

  • Venetian
  • Galaxy Hotel
  • Grand Lisboa
  • Wynn Macau
  • Tree of Prosperity show
  • Dragon of Fortune show
  • MGM Macau
  • Sands Macau

You can also see Macau Tower.

Go back to Ferry Terminal to validate the ticket for departure – make sure your tour guide is still with you to assist you.

If you’re planning to extend your Macau trip, you could explore one of the best hotels in Macau here.

Back to Tsim Sha Tsui – Back to Hotel

DAY 5

Make sure your things are packed and ready to go! You’ll only be back to check out your room and leave luggage at the front desk.

If you want to take breakfast at the hotel, please do so and enjoy your last day in Hong Kong. J

THE PEAK

Hong Kong and Macau 5-day Trip Itinerary

This is quite far since The Peak is located at Hong Kong ISLAND.

Route options will be:

1. Take MRT – Kowloon Station – Hong Kong Station – take taxi to Victoria Peak instead of walking

2. Take taxi all the way to The Peak – this might just be costly but more convenient especially if you leave early in the morning, so it will not be that hot yet.

I suggest before you buy a ticket to TRAM – have a tour at the Victoria Peak Mall – there’s another mall across it where you can enter for free at their roof top. Try to take as many pictures as you can.

Take the tram ride going down to The Peak Galleria– buy one-way ticket only.

If you want you can also check Madame Tussauds wax museum – this can consume your time so it would depend on your choice it to enter this museum.

Going back, walk to MTR Central Station – then take the MTR up to Tsim Sha Tsui Station

Or take taxi to Central Station then MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui Station

Things to do and see in Tsim Sha Tsui:

Hong Kong and Macau 5-day Trip Itinerary

Victoria Garden, 1881 Heritage

Walk along the streets of Tsim Sha Tsui

Have lunch in the area – inside the malls can do

Note: If you weren’t able to do the Avenue of the Stars you could visit it on the last day, although you won’t be able to see the Symphony of Lights at night.

Hong Kong and Macau 5-day Trip Itinerary

Back to the hotel for check-out – fastest way – TAXI, if not – TSIM SHA TSUI Station to KOWLOON Station

Leave your luggage first at the hotel lounge so you can still go back to last minute shopping at Ladies’ Market but make sure this time you only buy things that can fit your carry-on bags

You can ask the concierge where is the nearest bus stop of AIRPORT EXPRESS SHUTTLE, usually this has a color blue sign on the streets, take the bus going to Airport Express, take the Airport Express worth HKD90 per adult, if you took the taxi going to the hotel upon arrival I suggest you take the Airport Express so you can see the difference and the view. Make sure you know your Terminal at the airport, there will be two exits for different Airlines depending on what terminal it will be located. Check-in, your luggage, have dinner at the airport and then fill-out your Disembarkation cards, proceed to Immigration!

  21. Hi! I found your article after searching blogs about hk macau trip. Me & friends are scheduled to go to HK this coming August 2016. Your blog is really informative especially for first timer international travelers like us. Were not planning to get a travel agency to lessen our expenses but we’re a little bit scared especially hearing stories about hold groups in the immigration (crossing fingers that it will not happen to us!). I would like to ask if it’s much convenient to .purchased disneyland tickets online? Your reply will be highly appreciated. Thank you & God speed! 🙂

    1. Hi, we will be travelling to Hongkog and Macau this August as well! Right on! this blog is very much informative for first time international travellers like us.

      Have fun! 🙂

  22. This is a must do in Hong Kong, and a cure for jet lag if you hike it! The views from Victoria’s Peak are fantastic, you’ll be able to grasp just how big and impressive Hong Kong is from the top

  23. Hi this is my first time to travel international, I will be travelling alone on May 1-3 Manila-HK, i got my round-trip ticket already and a hostel too. But i am still afraid because some articles ive read immigration is very strict and many people got offloaded. What to do when i arrive NAIA? What to do if I successfully reach HK? Any interviews when I arrive and left HK? I will bring 20k PHP as my show money, is it enough for my 3 days travel? Please can you explain to me on detail on what to do, I badly need help. Thanks a lot.

    1. Don’t worry they’re not that strict. However, if they ask just be precise on your answer that you wanted to do a tour.

      Enjoy!

    1. Hi Jim!
I was the one who wrote the article. Estimate expense would probably sum up to 20-25K which includes airfare too. It will depend on how much you would spend with food and shopping then that would vary.

      Thanks for reading 🙂
      Chiquei

  24. Everyone loves what you guys are usually up too. Such
clever work and coverage! Keep up the amazing works guys I’ve added you guys
    to our blogroll.

  25. A very informative article! Im planning on my very first international trip this August and it seems the Hongkong&Macau trip is very interesting. By the way, may I know what is your overall budget for this trip? Also, is it possible for you to post the budget? Would really appreciate it. Thanks! 🙂

    1. Hi Dyan,

I’m pretty sure you will enjoy HKG and Macau. August is a summer season so prepare to be ready for summer outfits 🙂
Estimated budget for this trip would be around 20-25K (all-in), however it will depend on how you spend with food and shopping. And it’s suggested to get a promotional airfare to have it at much cheaper rate 🙂

  26. So much useful information. I am planning on visiting HK next year and some of your tips are so useful. Thank you for sharing Jess!

    1. Thanks Jess!
Glad you enjoyed reading it! If I can be of any help I’m just a message away! 🙂
