Discovery Suites Ortigas, Metro Manila – Luxury Hotel Review @DiscoverySuites

By Two Monkeys Travel - Contributor August 2nd, 2016 Posted in Luxury Hotel Review, Philippines Travel Blog, Travel Blog No comments

I live in the Laguna province, a 2 – hour drive from Manila.  So every time that I have a meeting in the urban jungle, I would always get so restless. It’s as if my energy is drained by the traffic which is coupled with the noise pollution. Ask anyone living in the metro and they might say the same thing. So upon receiving the call for a 2 – night stay at Discovery Suites, Ortigas, I had doubts of saying ‘yes’.  But then I thought, what’s there to lose? So I packed my clothes, invited a friend that knows how to take great photos and headed to Ortigas, on a hot weekday!

Was it worth it? I guess you have to finish my entire post.

Discovery Suites Ortigas Manila Luxury Hotel ReviewDiscovery Suites, Ortigas is strategically located at the Central Business District. It’s actually pretty easy to locate. If you are familiar with the Podium, you can find the property just across that. It’s hard to miss, really. 🙂

After meeting Leeds Trompeta, the General Manager of Discovery Suites, the staff handed me a bouquet of flowers before they took me to my lovely room. That was really sweet, I tell you. Oh, before I forget, Discovery Suites feature an atrium architecture so it was perfect for someone like me – a self – proclaimed claustrophobic.

ACCOMMODATION

Junior Suite (40 – 45sqm)

We stayed at the Junior Suite and my word, it was spacious. I couldn’t wait to jump into my bed –  but of course, I had to take few shots before I destroy the beauty. They even had my name on one of the pillows! Aside from that, they prepared some welcome treats. Well, I was on a diet but I thought my stay would be a great excuse. 🙂

Their beds are so comfortable, I had a hard time getting up!

1 – Bedroom Suite  (59 – 89 sqm)

The 1 – Bedroom Suite is perfect if you are expecting visitors. You can even cook as it has a kitchenette and a dining area. Being a hopeless romantic that I am, I imagined myself cooking for someone special and then I would set up a candlelit dinner. The bigger question is, where can I have that ‘someone special’ first? 🙂

2 – Bedroom Suite  (105 sqm)

When we entered the 2 – Bedroom Suite, I was in deep amazement. The room was so spacious! I would recommend this for families who would like to have a staycation. At least the parents can still have a bit of privacy given that they have their own room.

You can have a small party in this massive room.

3 – Bedroom Suite (140 sqm)

Upon seeing the 3 – Bedroom Suite, all I could say was, “Kasing laki na ito sa probinsya ah!” (This size is the same with the houses in the province!). As most of you know, houses in the city are designed to be ‘space – savers’. If you earn a lot, then you can afford to have your own big and spacious house. But if you are average earner, this might seem to be a challenge. Now, houses in the provinces are generally larger and the 3 – Bedroom Suite in Discovery Ortigas met that standard. I say, this is perfect for small family reunions or parties.

Admiral Suite (220 sqm)

Do I need to say more? If the 3 – Bedroom suite was huge, I wouldn’t know how to categorize this one!

What are the inclusions in your room?

  • Wi – Fi
  • Digital access to newspapers and magazines via PressReader
  • Kitchen and Dining Set in selected rooms
  • Pillow Menu
  • In – Room Safe
  • Multi – line telephone
  • Voice mail

  • 60 – channel cable television
  • Bedside clock radio
  • Complimentary coffee and tea
  • Daily replenishment of bottled water

FOOD

22 Prime

I’m a picky eater and I don’t experiment much. So when it was time for dinner at 22 Prime, it was a risk for me to taste variety of food which I could not understand in one glance. Surprisingly, everything that I tasted was awesome. Yes, I heard the Hallelujah chorus once again! By the time they served dessert, I was unsure if I can still take a bite, but I did! I’m really sorry hips, you must suffer for now.

Restaurant 5

In the morning, I was excited to have my breakfast at Restaurant 5 since it  features Pan – American cuisine! Quite frankly, I had a hard time deciding which food to eat. The selection was overwhelming, and the taste – heavenly! It was the perfect way to start my day.

AMENITIES

Balance Lifestyle Fitness Club

With all the food I ate, I really wanted to try out the hotel’s gym. It was so huge and uses great equipment. You can also enjoy the sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi.

Swimming Pool

If you want to do some laps, then there is a swimming pool in the 5th floor which is considerably large in size.

And as a mom, I would say that this is one of my favorite spots in Discovery Suites! Since the hotel is near malls and other establishments, you can do your shopping while your kids enjoy the toys and fun activities in the Play Room.

Being at the heart of the business district, it is logical that they have their own business center. 🙂 In fact, you can prepare your documents here, hold meetings or even conferences.

Valet

It’s hard to find a decent parking space in the metro. Good thing that Discovery Suites has its own valet parking services for its guests. The price is reasonable and you can ensure that your cars are safe.

PEOPLE

The people from Discovery Suites are so warm and caring. Spending time with them was also fun. Indeed, they really know how to make their guests feel welcomed.  During our dinner we didn’t talk about the property (this was what I expected). We actually talked about show business! Oh, what a way to end our dinner.

AREA GUIDE

Malls

  • Podium and Megamall

If you are craving for some shopping, all you have to do is cross the street.

  • St. Francis Square Mall

But if you are thrifty – mom like me, you can get affordable goodies from St. Francis Square mall. My goodness, you will enjoy here!

Restaurants and Bars

  • Capitol Commons

I actually called my friends and we decided to have a drink at Capitol Commons. It’s just a few minute – drive from Discovery Ortigas and you have a lot of restaurants and bars to choose from.

Whether you are in Ortigas for business or for a quick staycation, Discovery Suites is highly recommended. And just so you know, they have long – staying guests as well. That explains how much they love the property. Don’t you think?
